Gall Bladder Stones (Gallstones) 🟡
Also called: Cholelithiasis

📌 What Are Gallstones?
Gallstones are hard deposits that form in the gallbladder, usually made of cholesterol or bilirubin.

📌 Types of Gallstones 🧬
1️⃣ Cholesterol Stones – Most common
2️⃣ Pigment Stones – Made of bilirubin
3️⃣ Mixed Stones – Combination of both

📌 Causes of Gallstones ⚠️
High cholesterol
Obesity / rapid weight loss
Low-fiber high-fat diet
Female (hormonal factors)
Pregnancy
Age > 40
Family history
Liver disease or hemolysis

📌 Symptoms of Gallstones 🤒
Severe right upper abdominal pain (biliary colic)
Pain radiating to right shoulder
Nausea, vomiting
Pain after fatty meals
Jaundice (if stone blocks bile duct)
Fever (if infection — cholecystitis)

📌 Complications 🛑
Acute cholecystitis
Pancreatitis
Choledocholithiasis (stone in common bile duct)
Cholangitis (bile duct infection)

📌 Diagnosis 🩻
Ultrasound → Test of choice
LFTs (if jaundice)
MRCP / ERCP (bile duct evaluation)

📌 Treatment 💊
🌟 No symptoms → No treatment needed
🌟 Pain + symptoms → Cholecystectomy (Gallbladder removal)
🌟 ERCP → If stone is in the common bile duct
🌟 Pain relief: NSAIDs
🌟 Lifestyle changes: low-fat diet

📌 Prevention Tips 🥗
Maintain healthy weight
Exercise regularly
Avoid oily, fried foods
High-fiber diet (fruits & vegetables)
Adequate hydration

Which organ has no Digestive Function?
📌 Explanation

The esophagus has no digestive function.

It does not secrete any digestive enzymes.

It does not perform any chemical digestion.

Its only role is peristalsis — moving food from the mouth to the stomach.

👉 Other options:

Stomach: Performs protein digestion (HCl, pepsin).

Duodenum: Major site of digestion and enzyme activity.

Liver: Produces bile for fat digestion.

Therefore, the only organ with no digestive function is the esophagus.

📌 Liver Converts Ammonia Into ?
✅ 1. What is Ammonia?

Ammonia (NH₃) = toxic waste product

Formed during protein metabolism

Even small amounts are harmful to the brain

---

🏥 2. Why Must the Liver Convert Ammonia?

Ammonia is neurotoxic

Causes hepatic encephalopathy, confusion, coma

Liver converts ammonia into safe, non-toxic urea

---

🔄 3. How Does the Liver Convert It? (Urea Cycle)

This occurs in hepatocytes.

Steps (simple):
1️⃣ Amino acids break → ammonia
2️⃣ Liver picks up ammonia
3️⃣ Urea cycle (Ornithine cycle) begins
4️⃣ Ammonia + CO₂ → Urea
5️⃣ Urea enters blood → carried to kidneys
6️⃣ Kidneys excrete urea in urine

---

🧪 4. Final Product

👉 Ammonia → UREA
👉 Urea is safe, water-soluble, easily excreted.

---

⚠️ 5. What if Liver Fails? (Important for exams)

Ammonia level ↑ increases

Patient develops:

Confusion

Asterixis (flapping tremor)

Coma

Seen in liver failure, cirrhosis

---

🧠 6. Memory Trick

“A” (Ammonia) → “U” (Urea) by Liver
A → U = Ammonia to Urea

---

✨ Short One-Liners

The liver detoxifies ammonia by converting it into urea.

Urea cycle occurs in liver mitochondria + cytoplasm.

Urea is excreted by the kidneys.

🩺 Liver Converts Ammonia Into Urea!

Ammonia is a toxic waste formed during protein breakdown.
Our liver protects the body by converting dangerous ammonia → urea, which is then safely removed by the kidneys.
Healthy liver = healthy detox! 💪✨

What is the main Role of mucus in the stomach ?

🔍 Main Role of Mucus in the Stomach

👉 The primary function of mucus in the stomach is to protect the stomach lining from:

Strong Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) 🧪

Digestive enzyme Pepsin 🦠

Mechanical injury from food particles 🍲

Prevent ulcers & irritation ❌🔥

🛡️ How Mucus Protects the Stomach?

Forms a thick protective barrier

Neutralizes acid near the stomach wall

Prevents self-digestion of the stomach

Maintains smooth movement of food

✨ Stomach Mucus — Your Natural Protection Shield!
Stomach produces strong acid to digest food, but why doesn’t it burn the stomach itself? 🤔
Because a thick mucus layer protects the stomach lining from acid, enzymes, and injury.
It prevents ulcers, irritation and keeps digestion smooth. 🛡️💛
Stay healthy and protect your gut! 🌿
