Our anxiety often compels us to remain quiet. We're afraid to ask a question in class, afraid to take part in something we're interested in, afraid to take chances. All because of our fear of being judged. Remember that the day you let go of that fear, the day you step outside your comfort zone, you will begin to have faith in yourself. Your fear of looking stupid is holding you back.

Why should mental illnesses be treated any differently from physical illnesses? Why are they not given nearly enough importance? Having mental health issues does not make you 'crazy', 'weird', 'wacko', or a 'freakshow'.

Diseases of the body garner sympathy, says comedian Ruby Wax -- except those of the brain. Why is that? With dazzling energy and humor, Wax, diagnosed a deca...

People with mental illnesses need support from peers and family. Peer counselling can help a lot, whether professional aid is available or not.
In other words, if you know of a person who suffers from a mental health issue, talk with them. Engage with them. Listen to them.
(This is in no way a substitute for professional therapy and medication, but it definitely contributes to their overall mental wellbeing.) Counselling/therapy isn't the job of a mental health professional alone. It's up to those in the immediate community to aid the process of recovery + it's mutually beneficial.

We're all stumbling along trying to figure out how to be happy, and we all will eventually find it.
It's alright to fall behind a square or two after a few good days. You'll bounce back.
You'll have people who seem like they're out to get you, but you will also have many people, both known and unknown, that boost you up and stand by you. You might be such a person for someone else.
Give yourself time to do things you enjoy. Turn work into pleasure.
Take care of yourself.
After all, mental wellbeing is a process, not a state.

Whether on social media or in modern journalism, body-shaming is still presumed to be a women's problem. Here's the flip side.

It's easy to frame body shaming and eating disorders as primarily a female problem (because beauty, in our culture, is so often treated like women's sole utility, whereas men are allowed to fall back on stuff like "ideas" and "assertiveness" and "sense of humor), but...

The ReachOut campaign for the months of August and September is on body image and body shaming.

Anorexia: an eating disorder characterized by an abnormally low body weight, intense fear of gaining weight and a distorted perception of body weight (The Mayo Clinic).

“Don’t your parents feed you?” is a jibe Prerna Grover, marketing head at a hospitality chain, has had to put up with. Here’s how she deals with thin shaming
