✨ Welcoming the new cohort of 12 future innovators- our PhD and MS by Research students!

We recently welcomed the new batch of PhD and MS by Research students during their orientation program, and we can't be more thrilled.

Their orientation kicked off with an engaging line-up of sessions: from a thought-provoking seminar by Dr. Shalmali Joshi (Assistant Professor, Columbia University, Dept. of Biomedical Informatics) to program overviews and introduction to research themes by our faculty. The day wrapped up with fresh ideas, new friendships, and a shared excitement for the road ahead.

Here’s to an inspiring academic journey ahead — full of curiosity, innovation, collaboration, and meaningful impact. We wish them luck as they embark on this exciting new chapter! 💙🧠

💡 Reimagining Digital Health | Regional Consultation on ABDM 2.0

We hosted a Regional Consultation on ABDM 2.0 at IIT Bombay, bringing together 35+ stakeholders across government, academia, startups, and the health-tech ecosystem — to reflect on lessons from ABDM 1.0 and collectively shape what ABDM 2.0 could become.

It was a valuable opportunity for us to host the National Health Authority (NHA) at IIT Bombay — a highlight of the growing collaboration between public institutions and academia in driving India’s digital health journey forward.

We extend our deep gratitude to:
🔹 Mr. Vikram Pagaria (Director, ABDM & PMJAY, NHA) — for a powerful keynote that set the direction for ABDM 2.0.
🔹 Mr. Himanshu Burad (OSD to JS & MD, ABDM, NHA) — for his constant support and invaluable guidance throughout.
🔹 Dr. Karthik Adapa (Regional Adviser for Digital Health) — for his vision and encouragement, which helped seed and shape this initiative.

We also thank Dr. Ajay Nair (Swasth Alliance) for his thought partnership and active participation, and Mr. Kiran Gopal Vaska (Joint Secretary & Mission Director, ABDM, NHA || IITB Alumnus) for his continued support.

A special thanks to our session moderators — Dr. Ashlesha Tawde Kelkar (MUHS), Mr. Akhil Malhotra (Bahmni), and Mr. Santosh Patil (KCDO)— and to all the participants who joined us, both offline and online, for your insight, energy, and commitment.

🧠 Together, let's work towards advancing ABDM 2.0 — a secure, inclusive, and interoperable health system for India, transform ideas into action and build the digital health backbone of tomorrow.

🌟 Insights from the Field | Shri Ambrish Kumar, IAS at KCDH

This week, we were honoured to welcome Shri Ambrish Kumar (IAS) — Secretary, Medical Education Department, Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur, and a proud IIT Bombay alumnus — for an inspiring session on transforming India’s healthcare landscape.

Drawing from his vast administrative experience, Shri Kumar shared powerful insights on building predictable, equitable, and technology-driven healthcare systems. He spoke openly about real-world challenges — from bridging the trust gap between patients and institutions to solving diagnostic bottlenecks and using digital tools to streamline care pathways.

Our students and faculty engaged with energy and curiosity, diving into conversations around Rajasthan’s innovations and global comparisons in healthcare systems. We’re truly grateful to Shri Kumar for returning to his alma mater and sharing his vision. Interactions like these push us to think bigger and act bolder in reimagining the future of healthcare in India. 💡🇮🇳
