🌱 Rooted: Building a Stabilization Toolkit for Trauma 🌱

✨️ An for early career therapists and MA psychology students ✨️

Before the trauma narrative unfolds, 💬
before the details are recollected, 🧠
we need to build and nurture the safety. 🌿

Trauma-informed practice is not intended to be rushed, it needs to be paced with stabilisation. 🌊

This experiential training by is a warm invitation to strengthen the foundations in trauma-informed care by building a stabilization toolkit through various activities.

Compassionate Curiosity India is hosting an experiential workshop for all adults in Mumbai to slow down 🐢, play & goof up intentionally 🎨, share laughters 🤭, and build connections! 🌈

In this space, there's no pressure to "perform", be “perfect or creative”! 😌

Ho ho ho, folks! 🧑‍🎄

This Christmas, I'm asking myself to intentionally slow down. I worked VERY hard in the last couple of months (to the point my body decided to give me a break). In these months, I was making up for all the days I would miss in December and January for attending my Diploma in supervision, grand family weddings and extensive travel... I showed up at work, in classrooms, in personal life to the fullest! 😎

Until...I completely lost my voice to severe cold a few days ago and had to reschedule most of the sessions before I could take my planned annual Winter Break! 🙃 On a lighter note, we've been playing dumb charades at my place since then to communicate anything! 🎭

So my reminder to self for 2026 and all the upcoming years is going to be - slow down and rest, the world (or at least those who can/ want to) can wait, and definitely don't take your body for granted at any age! 🫠

Signing off for 2025 now! 👋🏼

I'm extremely grateful and excited to share that I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to the much awaited resource - Feminist Psychotherapy in an Indian Context: Deploying Intersectionality in Therapeutic Settings by Jagruti Wandrekar, a feminist, intersectional and q***r-affirmative psychotherapist and trainer. ✨

It is my absolute honour to be part of this work that is bringing together compassionate voices committed to reimagining mental healthcare surrounding different areas of life through a feminist, intersectional, social justice oriented, and culturally rooted lens. 🌈

This contribution is not just about my own reflections but also about the collective wisdom, lived experiences, and practices of resistance that are shaping the therapeutic spaces in India today. 🌻

I sit with unexplainable heaviness today as I pause work to allow grief to surface. We lost someone in their mid-30s in our family. And this loss has not yet hit me. I'm still in denial. Confusion. Utter shock. Waiting for things to make some sense. 😔

Got an early morning call... When we typically get such calls, even if we are thinking of any medical emergency, we tend to think of older folks in our family. It did not occur to me - someone closer in our age would leave us so suddenly due to cardiac arrest.

✨️ Someone who has been one of the smartest, most hard working, and people-oriented persons in the family and at work.

🏆 Someone who always raised the bar very high, won many prestigious awards, got recently promoted, and led multiple teams at their workplace.

👨‍👩‍👦 Someone who also navigated their personal life with lot of passion, took care of their parents, spouse, and child.

We thought of all the could have beens and would have beens. But no answer is enough to calm us, at least in this moment.

All I can think of was how this person was building the life they dreamt of, for themselves and their family. All that they were dreaming of building and were about to build...! 🌻

I thought I would pen this down so that I feel something. Yet, all I am experiencing right now is emptiness - almost like a vacuum, an unreal experience that only exists in media.

Life is really becoming a bit unpredictable. Yet, I'm reminding myself that it's high time that we listen to our bodies, whether it's speaking loudly or subtly to us, as we chase our precious dreams! 🙏🏻
