Prasarita Padotonasana (wide legged forward fold)

Here is an asana that most of us can practice and gain multiple benefits from just by holding it for upto 60seconds.
Right from
-Reliving & stretching the lower back
-Stretching the hamstrings, calves, glutes
-Helping strengthen the hip, knee & ankle joint flexibility
-Lengthening the spine (being an half inversion)
-Helps immensely with feet balance & strength
-Inversion helps the brain and heart both relax (helps with stress, anxiety, depression and sleep struggles)

You can practice this asana as a part of your stretch routine, your cool-down routine and your relaxation routine!

AVOID: If you have high BP, migraine, heart condition, vertigo, lower back, knee and ankle injuries / pain

advice: As always, I advise you practice yoga under guidance to reap the benefits of this discipline 🙏

After Covid we have all only experienced more respiratory concerns and now with the AQI falling, season changing & pollution levels constantly rising we are all struggling with Flu and Cold!

Before I became a teacher …I learnt how to be a student. I learnt all I could without the aim of becoming a teacher. Being a student gave me the freedom to make mistakes, build, pause, restart, keep going at my pace. It made me into a person who practiced, showed up, practiced & tuned into my body, mind & emotions.
The process of discipline is about learning & growing and that means you will always be student. Not just learning external things but internal as well.

When you stop learning, you stop becoming & growing.

So to all reading this…be a student in life. A student to the practice, to your work, in your relationships, in your body & mind….learn & grow!

There is a deep sense of surrendering in the air.
As the season changes in nature, so must we.
Autumn winds allow you to shed parts of you that no longer nourish the tree of your life.

Over the next few days if you take the time to identify what is ready within you to be shed, to let go, you can transform into a new chapter of ‘fresh growth’

Be thankful for this powerful season of change and begin the work by surrendering to yourself.

All that is within You, is the sound around you!
All that is from You, is the joy around you!
All that is You, is the world around you!

I never thought it would feel unsafe to be out in nature...to be out and about at all. I hope we can all become truly responsible for each-other as this new unlock phase begins or our lives will never ever move forward. We will be stuck in a loop. When we utter the words ‘Be safe’ lets remember it means to be responsible towards everyone!!! Not just ourselves and our loved ones. Every careless acts affects all of us, directly or indirectly!!!

Anyone who knows me, has at some point realised I am OBSESSED with my SKIN!
Today I want to talk about that...Our skin is literally like a security blanket, it covers us all over & a huge part of our appearance is just that! My confidence is perhaps more connected to my skin than the shape of my body! It happened when I read this in a spiritual book: ’Your skin is the representation of levels of your own acceptance and place in this world. It’s a reflection of how your health is internally’ and that was that! I began focusing on finding as many ways as I could to get the perfect skin! But I always did external things when I should have been working with it internally!
I am a great believer in signs & them appearing in the most crazy ways when one starts their emotional & spiritual healing journey! So ofcourse when I went for my yoga teacher’s training program, I faced all the possible skin issues as I began. The very first layer I had to shed was, my insecurities attached to my appearance! I burnt my face with hot water, I had no medical help, there weren’t shops that had steroid based creams that I was so dependent on to keep acne and imperfections away! And there was no facial bleach available to hide my hideous beard and moustache a gift I grew into thanks to PCOD!

I was MISERABLE! I’d use all the possible filters on Instagram while posting, post in dull light or too much sun light so my skin would look burnt out!!! And one fine morning in class, while chanting I broke down badly! Started weeping because of the mantra I was chanting it spoke of, how I devote myself to my inner practice ask Shiva to embrace my imperfect self while guiding me to let go of everything that is made in this world, embedded in me keeping me stuck to a place that isn’t mine!

I won’t get into that right now, because it’s hard to explain a Sanskrit mantra in English! BUT my God! Something came through to me that day and my acceptance of my own imperfections when it came to my skin began.
It’s been a process, a journey since.

I’m learning to love my skin & myself in a different way! it’s helping me break free of something so many women are deeply conditioned to not embrace.

Being able to experience gratitude is a thing of greater gratitude.
The times we are in is teaching us THIS kind of gratitude.

To never take life as we have it for granted. To never overlook the privilege of love, friendship, companionship, comforts, choices, luxuries and gifts from nature for granted! The very bases of our life is this planet and all it gives us, all we make of what we receive and have!
And above all! It’s teaching us how despite all our selfish mistakes, ignorance, naiveté we still have another chance to change things, to choose another way of being. To build ourselves differently, personally and as a society!

To think, feel, love, work, give, receive, live...differently! We need to accept all these opportunities with greater gratitude 🙏
Just as you read this, realise how blessed, lucky, loved & protected you are. You’ll feel this greater gratitude 🤗🙏

All I could do was obsess! to make it all perfect for YOU. I couldn’t stop holding you, the second someone else would wanna, I’d feel restless and just wait to get you back in my arms. That night, I didn’t sleep, I sat there watching you sleep because I just couldn’t believe how perfect you were. My tiny, perfect baby Angel!
You are loved and missed everyday you little potato-lovin brat! You are still my first thought as I come back home. I open the door and I can’t help myself even after all this time but call out or whisper “Hiiiiiiiiiii Angel!”

Quarantine time has made a lot of people turn to doing yoga at home. People are suddenly eager and curious about pranayama and asanas, article after article speaks to the fact that doing YOGA could help boost your immunity and help you in these crazy times.

Reality check! It did the same exact thing before Corona hit the globe!
My sincere request to everyone is this:
•Don’t turn to yoga now that you have time!
•Don’t turn to yoga because there are free-live sessions available on currently
•Do NOT turn to it to help you get stronger lungs so you don’t have to worry about catching corona!

Because right around 15th April 2020, you will be done with all these reasons. You won’t have time for it, you won’t make time for it and you won’t have free sessions then!

Instead take this time to redesign your schedule post-quarantine in a way that you MAKE TIME for YOGA!

It’s health benefits are never going to let you down! The times that lay ahead...oh man! we will all need MORE of this practice for our mind, body and will!
So please don’t make this a 21 Day hobby!
Make this a 21 Day habit that you continue dedicating yourself to no matter what!
