The story of Sanjukta Parashar, who allegedly entered dense forests with an AK-47 and eliminated 16 militants while arresting 64 more, deserves to be known by every woman in the country who considers herself weak.
If Sanjukta, fair and graceful in appearance, were to pass by you, you might never imagine her extraordinary achievements. When an ordinary woman accomplishes what even millions of men may not, her bravery should be celebrated across social media. Unfortunately, we often remain trapped in politics, caste, and religion, ignoring such real heroes. As a result, her page struggles to get even a hundred thousand likes, while politicians and film stars receive millions.
Educated in Assam and later graduating from Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi, Sanjukta cleared the IPS exam in 2006 with an All-India rank of 85. She is said to hold a PhD in US Foreign Policy and is therefore referred to as Dr. Sanjukta Parashar. She is married to IAS officer Puru Gupta and has a six-year-old son, cared for by her mother.
In 2014, she was posted as Superintendent of Police in Sonitpur district of Assam, where she faced daily trials by fire. Bodo militants had unleashed terror in the region, causing hundreds of deaths. Entering the dense forests of Assam to confront them was akin to inviting death. When Sanjukta entered the forests with CRPF जवान, her presence inspired immense courage among them. Following several successful operations, militants reportedly began to fear her name. Despite threats via letters and phone calls, she remained fearless. Within just 18 months, 16 militants were killed and 64 arrested.
Today, Sanjukta Parashar serves in Delhi. Eliminating terrorism from the nation remains her mission. We must salute the extraordinary courage of this true warrior woman.
