It's ok to be who you are. Not everyone is going to like you for it but if you dare to stand in ownership of who you are, then you are on the way to mastering your life.

The future

Managing complex and chronic diseases sometimes become difficult for patients and doctors both. Along with that, when patients don't find someone who shares the same disease as them, it becomes even more difficult for them to deal with the situation. Not having someone with whom they can share their exact situation, makes the entire scenario suffocating.
To bring a change in this situation, the concept of sharing health data online came into existence. The system of building support groups, talks, etc made people know that there are many other people who suffer from same illness as they do. This revolutionary concept made it easy for patients to connect to doctors simultaneously connecting them with other patients.
Previously, sharing health care data online has tremendously helped in solving public health related issues. In 2014, during the Ebola out break, the data collected online helped scientists and doctors know how the virus was evolving and spreading in region.
The advancement in information technology has brought a progressive change in health care systems.

Last message of Steve Jobs

“I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In others’ eyes, my life is an epitome of success. However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to. At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and become meaningless in the face of impending death.
Now I know, when we have accumulated sufficient wealth to last our lifetime, we should pursue other matters that are unrelated to wealth. Perhaps relationships, perhaps art, perhaps a dream from younger days.
God gave us the senses to let us feel the love in everyone’s heart, not the illusions brought about by wealth. The wealth I have won in my life I cannot bring with me. What I can bring is only the memories precipitated by love. Those are the true riches which will follow you, accompany you, giving you strength and light to go on. Love can travel a thousand miles. Life has no limit. Go where you want to go. Reach the height you want to reach. It is all in your heart and in your hands.”
These were the words of Steve Jobs who is widely recognized as a pioneer of the microcomputer revolution of the 1970s and 1980s. He died at the age of 56 from pancreatic cancer. Well, the whole idea that he wanted to convey with these words lies in treasuring life, the people we meet in this life and our own self.
Being humans, we have been taught to practice humanity in various different ways. The essence of humanity lies even in the smallest of efforts that one human puts in other’s wellbeing. Well, it’s the same thing that needs to be considered when it comes to health care sector too. It goes without saying that the contribution of technology to health care sector is unmatchable. But with the advances in technology in the services of health sector, we spend far less time in listening to people’s stories. Keeping it short, we’re slowly failing at building one-to-one human connections. We need to build a more humane approach while prioritizing other works.
We at Chikitsak aim at providing you with the services where we keep the essence of humanity intact along with organizational services.

Cheers to humanity! Cheers to good health!

*Making a living , giving a life*

All of us do something or the other to make a living. This statement intrigues you because you consider, “making a living”, relates to making money for a livelihood. You live as long as you live. It is until that point in time, when you breathe your last breath. You are living because you are breathing. You are making the muscles of your heart work enough to pump blood into your veins. You make your lungs pump in oxygen and blow out carbon dioxide. You make your pupils move towards the faces of your dear ones who are around you. You make your brain think and believe that you are alive. Until all of these activities and millions more does not stop, you are living. You are the one who is making this happen inside you. You are making a living.

Let us have a look at another statement. “All of us make a living by what we get”. Again you are intrigued by this version. But this time, you are little cautious. You are considering the immaterial things, all because of the impact of the first stanza that was elaborated upon “making a living”. This time you are more philosophical. This is natural.

The process of being conscious and reacting to our conscience happens in all of us. Consciously or sub consciously, we make a living by what we get. Yes we get it as air, water and food. If you think minutely, you are bound to realise, you have consumed only these three things to make a living. The fact is, there is no such fourth thing that keeps you alive, or rather keeping you alive. Everything else is just an annexure. They just support your act of living but they never become a constituent element. Let us take an example beyond air, water and food. You may challenge this notion. Take an example. What is the next most important thing that you need? Clothes! It protects you and adorns you. It is materialistic.

You would say, we have thoughts, opinions, beliefs, emotions, assumptions, options, premonitions, perceptions, affections, aspirations, inspirations and many more things that keep us alive. That’s true, they keep you alive! That is your life. All of these make your life and reflects through your deeds on either side of your life. By this, I am indicating at your life that you cherish, while in action and the Life of yours that’s cherished by others when you are physically absent but retained in memories. I would set aside another debate for the time being, while subtly asking a question, whether those memories are good or bad. Whether they extend happiness or bring in pain. But why should you bother? You are not there anymore to consume that reflection. You have become a memory!

You have stopped making a living. However, you have left behind a “life” which you had nurtured, watered, crafted, decorated and presented it, again and again with improvements always, while you were making a living. The moment your living concludes, what remains behind your body and soul, is nothing but your “Life”. Nobody can change or edit that anymore. It is the final version, complete in itself. You have given it. So we say, we make a “life” by what we give.

How seriously do you take Diabetes?

“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”
-Mahatma Gandhi

How true is this quote by Mahatma Gandhi?
Let us make this quote more understandable for you by throwing light upon some practical examples.
Arun Jaitley- a well known Indian politician, suffered from diabetes for nearly two decades.
Due to excessive weight gain that happened due to his long-standing diabetic condition, he had to undergo bariatric surgery to lose weight. His condition worsened after getting a kidney transplant in May 2018. He also suffered from soft tissue sarcoma, a rare form of cancer which then lead to metastasis all over the body by lymphatic and bloodstreams. Sadly, after suffering for so long, Arun Jaitley passed away on 24th August 2019.

Similar was the case of Smt. Sushma Swaraj- former minister of external affairs of India. She suffered from diabetes. Later she was diagnosed with renal failure. Though she had a successful kidney transplant in December 2016. At the age of 67, she died after a cardiac arrest.
We lost two precious gems of the country to complications of diabetes. We need to understand that diabetes itself is manageable, but its complications can severely impact a person, and some can be lethal if not treated immediately. Therefore, it's necessary to take diabetes seriously from the beginning to prevent complications, as the best of healthcare is not going to help once the cascade of complications sets in. After all, its truly quoted by Nina Leavins, “The best health care plan is a self-care plan.”

During sickness, it is certain that people need compassion within healthcare. Due to certain circumstances, a number of people start feeling alone due to lack of empathy and compassion. Let us give you one such example from the novel ‘Mahashweta’ where the patient felt like it was the end of a happy life when she was diagnosed with a disease. But even when everyone she once relied upon left her side, there were a few people who stood as solid as a rock beside her.
The novel 'Mahashweta' was penned by Mrs. Sudha Murthy. It's a story about a girl named Anupama who has all the virtues of an ideal girl. She's looked upon as an extremely beautiful girl with an intelligent mind. Hailing from a poor family, Anupama is determined to study and work hard to become an independent woman. She gets married to a doctor named Anand who fell in love with her beauty. Soon after marriage she gets diagnosed with leucoderma and people start considering it as white patches on her beauty. Everyone including her family, in-laws and even her husband started looking upon her disgracefully. The reason we;re writing about this novel today is to throw light upon the friendship Anupama shared with her two friends namely Sumithra and Dolly. During the difficult times, when absolutely no one was ready to stand by her side, only her friends came to her rescue. From providing her with accommodation to empathizing with her when she needed it the most, they did it all without demanding anything from her in return.
Whatsoever situation you’re in, you’ll always have a few people standing right by your side. They will make you realize that the reasons to live life don’t end with the diagnosis of a disease. And we at FlowT are glad to help you in providing solutions to your health problems!

You may have heard the statement “Sitting is the New Smoking!”

When we first heard this saying, we thought it was crazy.

Sitting is NOT like smoking.

But recently, team FlowT looked more into it, and it completely changed our outlook on one aspect of health that most people neglect.

Here's the problem: we sit an average of 9 to 10 hours a day. So we sit more than we sleep. We sit more than we stand or do any activity.

We sit in our cars. We sit to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We sit to work. We sit to watch TV. We sit at the movie theatre. We sit at the dentist’s office. We sit everywhere.

What’s the problem with so much sitting?

You’ll be surprised to hear that it’s not really “back pain” or any such thing (although, that can happen too!).

The problem with so much sitting is that our bodies were not meant for it.

For millions of year, we were in constant movement for 10-12 hours a day.

Switch that to sitting for 10 hours, and there’s no amount of exercise you can do that can undo the damage.

Even if, after your day at the office, you went to the gym for two hours, it wouldn’t negate the damage done by sitting.

That’s what led Dr James Levine to coin the phrase “Sitting is the New Smoking!”

When you stand, your body works very differently than when you sit.

Sitting for hours a day causes the following damages.

Because blood flow slows down, you increase your risk of heart disease.

Your insulin is negatively affected by just one day of sitting 10 hours a day.

Sitting increases your risk of cancer, for reasons we’re still speculating about.

Perhaps it’s the antioxidant processes that are engaged when we are in movement.

Sitting compresses your body, slowing down digestion, leading to cramps, heartburn, constipation and bloating.

Brain function slows down when we sit.

Your brain gets less blood and oxygen.

Because of the above, mood worsens.

Posture gets worse, leading to a strained neck and shoulders.
Your entire body degenerates when you sit 10 hours a day.

Standing requires tensing of the abdominal muscles.

Sitting leads to weak abs, leading to mobility issues.

Varicose veins develop.

Your bones get weaker.

One study found that you can increase your lifespan by two years by sitting down three hours or less a day.

Another study found that each hour spent watching
TV after 25 reduces your life expectancy by 22 minutes.

On the other hand, each cigarette reduces your life expectancy by 11 minutes.

Hence… sitting is the new smoking!
