What are we made of?? Cells, Tissues, Organs, Organ Systems?? What are cells made of?? Atoms, protons, neutrons, electrons?? Ok, now, what are protons, neutrons and electrons made of??? To answer this what are humans made of, Acharya Sushruta states,
"पंचमहाभूत शारीरि समवायः पुरुषः। स एव कर्मपुरुषः चिकित्साधिकृतः।। (सुश्रुत संहिता शारीरस्थान १/१६) "
अर्थात- The body is made up of 'Pancha-mahabhoota' which includes Akash(sky)☁️, Vayu(wind)🌬️, Agni(Fire)🔥, Jala(Water)🌊, Prithvi(Earth)🌏 and Atma or the Chetna i.e. Consciousness . Now, if we are to talk about the smallest particles known, electrons, protons and neutrons how can we say they are made of these panchamahabhootas? Let's take a look-
electrons are always moving and active, they are not still and stable, they need to be stabilized, in the five elements which are the ones that are always moving and unstable, the wind and sky element are always in motion.so, based on such properties, we can say it is made up of air and sky elements.
Similarly, protons, they are positively charged comparatively more stable but still movement is present, so such properties can be seen in water element of nature, so the water element is more predominant that the other elements plus they have a mass, they are heavier, so that is also seen in water element as compared to the other air, sky and fire elements. So water element makes up proton in an atom.
Next up, neutrons, The most stable ones, and stability is seen in the earth or the prithvi element, this element mostly shows our soil and land element, which is stable and helps in creation and balance. So that element makes up the neutron.
Now, in this way almost each and every things in the world is made up of panchabhoot and there is difference only in the composition (just like a recipe of a dish) same for the human body, it is made up of these panchabhoota that makes up the different organs and organ systems and when incorporated with the atma. It becomes a fully functional machine that we are today.Atma is like that engine that keeps the life going, if this atma escapes our body, we will not survive.
