This SAFE (Safety Awareness for Excellence) session, hosted by the Association of Nurse Executives (India) β ANEI, features Ms K S Nitu, ANEI Patient Safety Fellow (2023β2025), as she presents her capstone project on reducing hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI).
Pressure injuries continue to be one of the most preventable yet challenging patient-safety issues. Studies in India estimate a prevalence of 5β8% among hospitalized patients β rates that can be dramatically reduced through consistent risk assessment, early prevention bundles, and nurse-led quality monitoring.
In this session, Ms Nitu shares practical interventions, real-world learnings, and outcome improvements from her fellowship project β illustrating how frontline leadership and teamwork make a measurable impact on patient outcomes.
