Reposted from - These birds were continuously pecking on the window pane one fine morning. They thought that there is another bird the other side aswell as it was a one way mirror window. That's when I clicked this pic of them, literally posing.

Start the journey, meander through the roads, travel often and break the norm, while keeping the sprit alive.
"Our parents taught us to be careful with glasses and with our bodies. They taught us that the passions of childhood are impossible; we should not remove men from the priesthood, that people do not perform miracles and that no one goes on a journey without knowing where he wants to go.

Break this norm, please, I thought to myself, and release of all these damn misconceptions, the habit you have of only doing that which everyone agrees with.”

Mermaid life at the Rainbow Falls: a 2 hour trek from Nongriat village, Cherrapunjee! 🧜‍♀️ These past few days in Meghalaya have been refreshingly calm and peaceful. I’ve had no network or worries, trekked on slushy unmade trails to find hidden pools, seen dancing rainbows in the water, cliff jumped more times than I can count, met some lovely people who’ve given me a ride back to the city, shared their limited supply of Old Monk (Indian rum) in the dead of a cold night and invited me over to their homes in Israel, Sikkim, Assam and Britain.
And today, I accidentally crossed over an open border and stepped foot into Bangladesh before a Border Security Force dude schooled me and called me back over to India 🙊
Meghalaya, you so amaze!

Of mountains and sapiens, post 31:
Life in mountains.

Met these kids one afternoon, when I decided against running after butterflies, in favor of just walking around in the village and spending time with some of the humblest people in the world.

We spent some time with these kids, listening to their stories. Towards the end, I asked them what they wanted to do in life. For some reason, I ask this to every child I meet.

You'd be surprised how predictable the answers are. Depending on the conversation before the question, children mostly say they either want to become a scientist if they see me in my field hat, walking around with my butterfly net. Or, they want to be a photographer if they see me carrying a camera and taking pictures of things they probably find awfully common and boring.

Moral of the story? Children look up to you, learn from you, and follow you. Make sure you're setting a good example for them. Make sure you're having conversations with them. Not just with the children in our homes, but with millions of those living on the streets, in orphanages, and in villages.

You'd be surprised to see the change they'll usher. You'd be surprised to see the world they'll build. A world where hashtags like and won't be required.

💙 When you wake up to views like these, the cold and the wind and the lack of any luxuries don’t matter so much. 💙 So, to recap, the last 3 days have given me: no internet, 11h of sleep per night, indescribable views, some tears and an altitude of 5,050m above sea level. This is definitely the closest to heaven I’ve ever been! 💙
