The passing of , the renowned "Bihar Kokila," Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee, is deeply saddening. She was a celebrated folk singer, known for her soulful renditions in Maithili, Bajjika, Bhojpuri, as well as Hindi. Apart from her contributions to regional folk music, she also lent her melodious voice to several Hindi films. Her enchanting songs, especially those sung for the Chhath festival, resonated across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and beyond, becoming an integral part of the cultural fabric. Her demise marks an irreplaceable loss to the world of music. We pray for the eternal peace of her soul and for strength and resilience for her family and admirers in this time of grief.
