I was looking through my camera roll and came across this photo from 300-hour teacher training at the start of 2020 - unfiltered, momma Earth doing her magnificent thing, and my feet grounded in the sand of the Arabian Sea. For me, this photo represents so many things - connection to spirit, a soul both soft and set on fire, and a heart open and free. Although I’m not necessarily in a yoga shape (although this could arguably be high mountain pose 😉) and my feet aren’t on a yoga mat, I felt more connected to my practice than ever before. I think that’s the power of diving into yogic philosophy; of rooting your practice and yourself in its sacred wisdom. Offerings focused on Yoga philosophy coming up (that have my heart beaming bright!):

- The Yamas: a *free* 5-week IG live series as an opportunity for you to dive into the first Limb of the yogic path via two 15-minute IG live practices per week

- The Yoga Study: a 6-month immersion training exploring the 8 Limb Path via lectures, practices, live discussions, workshops, and additional resources + opportunity for self-inquiry

Both are in collaboration with Wicked Om Yoga - I hope you’ll join us! See you soon - on and off the mat 😘

Today the group of teens I teach each week said they were feeling a slow practice, so we used all the bolsters, blocks, and blankets and it was the most present I’ve witnessed them in a class yet. Such a beautiful reminder to honor what we need…to embrace slowing, to find contentment in rest. If they can do it at their age with all of the distractions kids are facing these days, you/we certainly can, too!

So, how can you honor what you need today? What would it look like to embrace what this season embodies rather than sprinting into this new year full speed?

Shoutout to for the opportunity to share practice with this group. It’s for sure making me a better teacher and a better me. What a joy. What a gift!

Last year when it came time to think of a word to serve as my guiding light for the year ahead, the word that kept coming to mind was “foundation”. It’s not the flashiest word per say, but it’s what I wanted for myself — to lay the foundation for a lifetime of happiness and gain some clarity along the way. 2021 gave me my dream of a husband and lifelong partner, a fixer upper home that we will be moving into so soon, and I’d say more clarity than ever before in terms of career as I head into the new year working towards a new heart-centered journey behind the scenes.

For 2022, my wish for myself is to be in the beautiful gifts 2021 gave me with so much *grace*. To move a little slower…to stop and look around…to remember that we only get this one beautiful life, so we better be alive, peaceful, and grounded enough to experience and feel every bit of it along the way.

I love this photo captured of me in the midst of my own practice. She never has me “pose” for a photo…she is instead a witness to my own homecoming. Here, I am moving with grace. Here, I am grace. Here, I am. Here’s to making space for that in 2022. Xoxo!

Yesterday one of my students messaged me to share that she was feeling anxious and not quite like herself over the weekend, so she decided to take one of my Restore Flows. She’s been practicing with me for years but it was her first time taking one of my slower practices (my fav!), and she said it “brought her back home” to herself as she expressed her desire to carve out more time for slowing in her practice.

Truthfully, when I read her message, I was feeling similar to what she described. I was caught up in to dos, feeling a little anxious, and in need of grounding and rest. I looked up the Restore Flow she took, grabbed my bolster and blanket and got practicing, and little by little, a feeling of home settled back into my being — mind, body, and heart.

So the next time you’re not feeling quite like you or this go go go world has you caught up in the doing, remember the power of slowing, stillness, breath, and intentional rest. Thank you to my sweet client and friend for yesterday’s reminder. This Restore Flow is titled Required Rest and you can find it in the Library along with many others. This way of teaching is inspired by the slow and steady practices we were guided through during my time in India and it is so very near and dear to my heart!

“Yoga begins right where I am — not where I was yesterday or where I long to be.” — Linda Sparrowe

I came across this quote yesterday, smiled, softened my shoulders, and let out a sweet exhale. Yoga truly is found right where we are and in these moments captured here, the little glimpses of me smiling while teaching remind me that I was right where I was supposed to be. No matter what the present moment holds, we’re always right where we’re supposed to be when you think about it.

So remember to stay present and find gratitude in what each moment holds this week. Let go of overthinking yesterdays and tomorrows and find joy, grounding, and beauty in the here and now. Lots of opportunities to practice together including a new Unlimited On-Demand Library Subscription offering for access to 120+ (and growing each week) practices for $30/month. This library has been a true labor of love and I feel so lucky to get to share it with you. Link in bio to browse. See you on the mat this week virtually and IRL!

Today I received a letter in the mail filled with words so sweet they brought tears to my eyes. I contemplated who might’ve sent it for about five straight minutes (seriously…I even looked at a few letters I’ve kept from dear friends to try to match the handwriting and kept thinking to myself “this handwriting looks so much like mine’!” 😂). I read it again and realized the letter I was reading was the one I wrote to myself on the final day of 300-hour YTT in India on February 21, 2020.

In the letter, I was so kind to myself — so loving (like serious hype woman status) as I cheered myself on and reminded myself to trust the unfolding of this beautiful life and to be proud of the person I am. It got me thinking about how so often, we offer compassion, kindness, and celebration to others as second nature, yet it’s easy to forget to do the same for ourselves.

So invitation to be your own hype woman/man in this moment. Write yourself a letter, say something kind to yourself aloud, pat yourself on the back, and remember that you are deserving of your own loving and care.

Thank you for sending this self-love letter my way . My favorite quote from it was this: “Remember that life is all about trying. Scribble out what you need to, add in what helps things flow, and believe in you along the way.” A year and a half later, it is exactly what I needed to hear. I hope the reminder serves if you needed it, too!

Hello friends and happy August! This month, I’m inviting in presence, peace, nurturing, trust, and reminding myself to enjoy the journey rather than looking to the next mountaintop. I spent the first day of August doing nothing but cuddling up on the couch with my boys and cooking ~ a nurturing, peaceful, and slow Sunday that filled every inch of my soul. It may be summer, but I say curry doesn’t have a season. This Coconut Curry Vegetable Soup is packed with nourishment, super simple to make, and both preparing and eating it brought me so much joy. I hope it does the same for you!

~ Coconut Curry Vegetable Soup ~
1 carton low sodium vegetable broth
1 carton low sodium chicken broth
1 can coconut milk
1 onion
1 bag big carrots
1 bag potatoes (golden or mixed)
1 large head broccoli
3 Tbsp olive oil
Juice from 1 lemon
2 Tbsp yellow curry powder
2 Tbsp cilantro
1 Tbsp garam masala
1 Tbsp ginger
1 Tbsp garlic powder
Black pepper + sea salt + cayenne pepper to taste

I boiled the potatoes + steamed the broccoli before adding them to the pot with everything else. I also used dried spices to keep it easy. Feel free to use whatever veggies you have!

What are you inviting in this month? Sending you love and care this week!

Getting back into the swing of teaching this week is reminding me of just how much it anchors me and brings me so much immeasurable joy. I stumbled upon this time lapse I took of a virtual class last month but never shared and it has me smiling all over again! It’s funny how taking little breaks from even the things we love so incredibly much are so incredibly important. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and I say it also makes it grow grateful, full of perspective, and the souls longings more clear. So a little Wednesday reminder to take breaks, follow what lights you up, and find gratitude along the way.

Lots of opportunities to practice together this week. See you on the mat outside, in-studio, and virtual!
