Cabinet approves certain official amendments to the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved certain official amendments to the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill.

Details:

The Amendments include:

Final MBBS Examination to be held as a common exam across the country and would serve as an exit test called the National Exit Test (NEXT):

Having considered the common demand by the students not to subject them to an additional licentiate exam for the purpose of getting license to practice, the Cabinet has approved that thefinal MBBS examination would be held as a common exam throughout the country and wouldserve as an exit test to be called the National Exit Test (NEXT). Thus, the students would not have to appear in a separate exam after MBBS to get license to practice. NEXT would also serveas the screening test for doctors with foreign medical qualifications in order to practice in India.

Provision of Bridge course for AYUSH practitioners to practice modern medicine removed:

The provision dealing with bridge course for AYUSH practitioners to practice modern medicine to a limited extent has also been removed. It has been left to the State Governments to takenecessary measures for addressing and promoting primary health care in rural areas.

Fee regulation for 50% seats in private medical institutions and deemed universities:

The maximum limit of 40% seats for which fee would be regulated in private medicalinstitutions and deemed universities has been increased to 50% seats. Further, it has been clarified that the fee would also include all other charges taken by the colleges.

Number of nominees from States and UTs in NMC increased from 3 to 6:

Responding to the demands from States to increase their representation in the NMC, thenominees of States and UTs in the NMC have been increased from 3 to 6. The NMC willcomprise of 25 members of which at least 21 will be doctors.

Monetary penalty for a medical college non-compliant with the norms replaced with provision for different penalty options

Another major concern gathered during discussion with stakeholders was the wide range of monetary penalty, ranging from one half to ten times the annual fee recovered from a batch, to be imposed in a graded manner on a medical college non-compliant with the norms. The clause has been replaced with a provision which provides different options for warning, reasonable monetary penalty, reducing intake, stoppage of admission leading up to withdrawal of recognition.

Stringent punishment for unqualified medical practitioners or quacks:

The government is concerned about the quality and safety of health care being made available to the citizens and the need to act strictly against unqualified practitioners or quacks. The punishment for any unauthorized practice of medicine has been made severe by including a provision for imprisonment of up to one year along with a fine extending up to Rs. 5 lakhs.

we have started a small public challenge cm initiative.i have completed the challenge myself.
we all privileged ones can make a small difference in time when 500/1000 notes are becoming a crucial issue
..

1. Find a person who is in trouble due to lack of currency change. It could be any person like an elderly person waiting in a bank queue, a person whose relative is in a hospital, someone in a long ATM queue, a stranded foreigner or domestic tourist, anyone.

2. You have to spare 1000 Rs change i.e. 10 hundred rupee notes from the currency notes you have, and exchange 1000 Rs of invalid currency i.e. A 1000 rupee note, or two 500 rupee notes for that person. You can change even more if possible :)

3. You can deposit these 1000/500 Rs notes later in your bank, but your 100 notes change can provide big immediate relief to a needy person. We can be a part of this big change for our country by literally providing change !

4. Click a picture with that person, and share it on Facebook. The hashtag is

Dear friends,
MARD has taken up the very crucial issue of having ONE SESSION EXAM FOR NEET PG. .
We are in touch with the best lawyers who won the case of ug neet this year and slso have strong documentary evidence to support our cause..
We will be filing a case in supreme Court for same.. although the lawyers have agreed to charge less as it's a genuine issue.. but still we require at least 1 lakh rupees ..
You are requested to contribute whatever you can for same.. we invest thousands in coaching classes.. giving some amount for this is not something much to ask..
Both cash payment and net banking are ok..
Please help for your own secure future..

Guys as we all know, the NEET exam is scheduled around December 1st week which is held be NBE(National Board Of Examination). The exam is conducted in different sessions over 6 days which creates disparity in the performance of students.According to MCI rules and regulations,All students must face same set of questions for eligibility criteria.
MARD has filled a case against NBE in supreme court for NEET exam to be conducted on a single day only.As the beneficiary of the outcome will be the ongoing interns, they want us to help them financially. The lawyer usually charges 5-6 lakhs to defend a case in supreme court. But Advocate who has been appointed for the case, being student friendly is charging around 1lakh.
So all interns and other students who want the NEET exam to be conducted on a single day, please send in your help as much as you can.
Payment can be done directly to MARD account or collected at college level and then transferred to MARD account.
Share this msg to each and every medical student.
