🪔 Orthopaedic Awareness Talk for Diwali Get-Together – Aastha Hospital, Sri Ganganagar
Hello everyone , and Happy Diwali!
As we celebrate this festival of light, let’s also spread awareness about something equally important — the light of good health, especially bone and joint health.
Our bones and joints are the pillars that support our daily life. However, due to today’s busy lifestyle, wrong posture, lack of exercise, obesity, and increasing age, orthopaedic problems are becoming very common — even among young people.
---
🦴 Common Orthopaedic Issues:
1. Osteoarthritis (Joint Wear & Tear):
Common after 40 years, especially in knees and hips. Early symptoms include stiffness and pain while climbing stairs or walking.
2. Back & Neck Pain:
Caused by long hours on mobile or computer, wrong sitting posture, and weak spinal muscles.
3. Osteoporosis:
“Silent disease” causing bones to become weak and brittle — more common in women after menopause.
4. Sports or Fitness Injuries:
Incorrect exercise techniques and lack of warm-up can lead to ligament tears or fractures.
5. Spine-related Issues:
Disc herniation, nerve compression, and radiating leg pain can be treated effectively if diagnosed early.
---
💡 Preventive Measures:
Maintain a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D.
Do regular exercise or yoga to keep joints flexible.
Maintain healthy weight to reduce stress on knees and spine.
Avoid smoking and alcohol, which weaken bone density.
Use ergonomic posture at work and during mobile use.
Consult an orthopaedic specialist early for any persistent pain or deformity.
🌼 A Message for Diwali:
This Diwali, let’s take a pledge not only to light diyas in our homes but also to bring light to our lives through good bone and joint health.
Early diagnosis and preventive care can help us stay active, pain-free, and independent for years to come.
