Abdul Ahad Farhad: A Sufi Voice That Will Never Fall Silent.

The demise of Abdul Ahad Farhad sahab (Farhad-Uncle) has left behind a silence that is deeply felt across hearts, minds, and spiritual circles.

He was not merely a literary figure or a Sufi poet; he was a living bridge between timeless spiritual wisdom and the restless modern world.

His departure from this earthly existence marks the end of a luminous chapter, yet his teachings continue to resonate—quietly, deeply, and eternally.

Uncle Farhad was a Sufi poet, thinker, and author of several books in the Kashmiri language, through which he enriched our spiritual and cultural heritage.
His writings were rooted in the essence of Tasawwuf—love for the Divine, humility, self-purification, and service to humanity.

At a time when materialism dominates thought and action, his words stood as a reminder that the human soul cannot survive on possessions alone.

To the society, he was a broadcaster, poet, and senior journalist.

To me, he was a friend, mentor, spiritual guide, and an uncle in spirit.

Our association was profound and transformative. We spent countless hours whenever we met in Jammu or in srinagar we had deep conversations—on Sufism, the moral crisis of contemporary society, and the growing distance between faith and daily life.

These were not ordinary discussions; they were moments of awakening, where silence often spoke louder than words.

Some teachings are not meant to be documented, only lived—and he understood this truth well.

Uncle Farhad believed that true Sufism is engagement, not escape. He cautioned against blind modernity that strips humans of compassion and inner balance. Yet his critique was always gentle, rooted in love and understanding rather than judgment.
He lived what he preached—simplicity in lifestyle, depth in thought, and sincerity in relationships.

His poetry in Kashmiri carried the fragrance of the soil and the echo of the soul. By choosing to write in the language of the people, he preserved not only a linguistic tradition but also a spiritual identity.
His verses reached the common man while elevating the seeker, making spirituality accessible without diluting its depth.
Though Abdul Ahad Farhad uncle is no longer among us physically, his legacy is immortal—in his books, in his poetry, and in the countless hearts he illuminated.
As Sufis say, the friends of Allah do not die; they only move from one realm of presence to another.

For those who knew him closely, his absence is deeply personal and painful. Yet there is solace in knowing that his life was one of meaning, wisdom, and service.

His message remains a guiding light in an age overshadowed by material excess and spiritual neglect.

May Allah grant Abdul Ahad Farhad the highest stations among the righteous and accept his lifelong devotion to knowledge, humility, and truth. And may we honor him not only with words, but by living the values he embodied—love over ego, depth over display, and faith over fleeting gain.
