One afternoon, as my daughter and I were enjoying a wholesome meal, a friend joined us and noticed we weren’t having cake for dessert. Curiously, they asked, “Why aren’t you having any cake?”
Smiling, I decided to share a story that had become important to me.
“Let me tell you something I’ve learned,” I began, looking at my daughter with love. “Once upon a time, I realized that while we would never keep junk in our home, we often put junk into our bodies. It struck me as quite contradictory. Our bodies are these magnificent machines, created by the universe, designed with millions of functions working in perfect harmony. They deserve the best, just like our home does.”
My friend listened intently as I continued. “When I understood this, I decided to change. I started choosing real, wholesome foods over unhealthy, processed options. I realized that proper nutrition was the key to keeping our internal machine running smoothly. Every bite of nutritious food we take is like giving our body the finest fuel, allowing it to function at its best.”
I took a moment, then added, “Since making these changes, I’ve felt more energetic, my thoughts are clearer, and my overall well-being has improved. Unhealthy junk disrupts our body’s natural processes and can lead to diseases. But now, with every mindful choice, we’re nurturing our bodies, giving them the care they truly deserve.”
I looked at my friend and said, “That’s why I always think twice before putting anything in my mouth. While we can change the food we eat, we cannot replace our bodies. By choosing nourishing foods, we honor this gift and ensure our internal machines run smoothly for years to come.”
My daughter, listening to the story, smiled and took another bite of her healthy meal. “We have the power to make choices that enhance our health and happiness,” I concluded. “Let’s cherish our bodies and give them the best fuel possible, for a healthier, happier life.”
