Thyroid : The principal function of the thyroid gland is the synthesis and secretion of thyroid
hormones, thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which circulate in the body through the
blood stream and aid in overall body metabolism. They are controlled by another hormone called
TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) from pituitary gland. The values helps in evaluating
function of the thyroid gland- hypothyrodism or hyperthyrodism.
hypothyrodism: Hypothyroidism occurs when your body doesn’t produce enough thyroid
hormones. The most common signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism include:
