“Goddesses Perform Raas Leela” – Guruma Shivangini (Aai)
*****
As Yogiraj was meditating at twilight, I fell into a reverie of yoga-nidra, sleeping yet awake. Suddenly, the atmosphere changed and I saw a group of young ladies bejewelled came to ashram and they were playing Raas Leela. The scene was joyous reverie, and tinkling laughter. I was awakened and tried to lift my head to see, but was unable to lift it. They locked each other's hands and began to perform a whirling dance in pairs ( फुगड़ी ) in the open space between the temple and the cottage. lt is a spiritual dance of Gods and Goddesses, Krishna and the gopis, wherein couples hold hands and whirl round and round, simulating the movement of the bright stars twinkling in the galaxy around them. In ancient times, when many ladies danced around a single deity, the dance was called the Raas Leela or Rashi Mandala or the movement of planets around the Sun. In Maharashtra, girls and ladies perform this dance which is called phugdi. I watched with my eyes open, but when I tried to get up, go there to talk to them and be a part of the dance, I just could not get up from the bed. This was a live experience. After sometime everyone vanished, no one was there. When Gurunath came from his meditation I was able to get up. I told him what happened and he said it was true. Divine goddesses were playing their Leela here, and he also said, "You were not able to get up Shivangini, because they were dancing on the third dimensional plane, an yet you have to achieve that third dimensional state, which is why you were unable to get up”
