Today is an eventful day. We are joyously celebrating two festivals, our 73rd Independence Day and Raskshabandhan.
On Rakshabandhan, as per tradition, a brother is the one generally giving gifts. For a change, let us join hands today and gift the brothers of our country – OUR SOILDERS. They strive and struggle day and night to protect and safeguard us at the border. Starting today, it is our turn to our bit.
In my opinion, we don’t really have control when another country attacks us. What we can control and is entirely in our hands is making our country and environment stronger from the inside.

I would like to particularly highlight the current floods situation. Our soldiers are putting their life at risk, doing an additional task and saving people in the affected region.
How can we lessen floods which is impacting us year on year?
• By following basic traffic rules and driving within speed limits. You may ask how?! If all of us adhere to traffic rules, there won’t be a need widen roads, build flyovers and hence there will be no cutting of trees and cementing of natural land. Having more land with soil and trees helps in absorption of rainwater and reduction in floods. This also improves groundwater level and solves water crisis.
• By smart waste disposing and not throwing waste in sewerage. Even a small amount of rainfall is causing our streets to flood. By being cognizant of waste disposal, there will no blockage and will enable free flow of water.
• By plating trees around our own house. A beautiful cement porch is surely eye-catching but at the cost of what? Instead, let’s have some soil around the house which will help in absorption of groundwater and greenery around the house is always beneficial.

By following simple steps like these and many others, we can protect our environment and lessen the burden of our soldiers who work tirelessly during floods. Let’s pledge for a stronger and greener nation!

Happy Raksha Bandhan to our brothers protecting us at the border... 🙏
