Sad but true..For everybody in dentistry..No body will want to or should risk themselves and be in a hot spot for transmitting without their knowledge..
The PPEs are a must for each and everyone ,,be in clinics or institutions..N95s, Faceshield,
Quality gloves,Working High volume motorised Suction are the least along with head cap, disposable gowns and foot covers..it comes close to 2000 rupees per set..
How to go about it will be a matter of serious and immediate concern when colleges, clinics open..
It is not going to be safe at all without these minimum basic measures..
Relapse of cases is scary..China,they had 124 new cases just yday when they just thought they are bouncing back to normalcy..
The cost of routine sterilisation ,disinfection, additional materials, aids, devices ,mandatory fumigation have to be the priority to hope for a relatively safer dentistry, (still may not be claimed as fool proof)..
313 dental institutions,at least 100 to 200 patients,100 working personnel per day..
It will be inhuman and illegal if we work or even ask anybody to work without providing the above mandatory personal protection aids..
And sincerely hope no institution will do that...
Let us not be under false hope that we can manage some how..
We can feel proud and pat ourselves for our collective responsibility in stopping our work in institutions and practices..
Just imagine the number of cases we would have become accountable for, if we had not closed down..
The apex body,Universities and the management will probably have a paradigm shift about regular functioning of the Dental Institutions from now on..They should change their focus from now on ,
FROM..
" HOW MANY ARE TREATED "
TO..
" HOW BEST THEY ARE TREATED "
As simple but profound as that...
God be with all..This too shall pass..
