The Durva Grass is sacred and one of the speciality for Ganesha Pooja. The scientific terminology of the Sanskrit Phrase “Durva” is Cynodon dactylon

The Durva grass has three tastes i.e. sweet (madhura rasa), astringent (kashaya rasa) and bitter (tikta rasa).

The Durva grass/ the Durva is an Ayurveda herb that is in treating various diseases - Some of the major health benefits are listed below -

1) It is a great body coolant.

It alleviates vitiation of Pitta, Rakta (blood) and Kapha.

2) It is a skin-friendly herb.

i)It helps to heal the wound/cuts and restores the colour of skin.
ii) The Durva grass is highly recommended in Psoriasis, Herpes, unhealed wounds, allergic rashes and haemorrhoids. It heals the patches of psoriasis and restores the normal colour of skin.
Applying the paste of durva grass reduces itching, heals the scaly/dry skin and imparts normal colour to the skin.

3) Durva grass is helpful for PCOS or PCOD and infertility

i) In Ayurveda, we treat excessive bleeding during the menstrual cycle, irregular menstrual cycle, and abortion (repeated abortion).
ii) Durva grass is efficient in healing PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
iii) It prevents abortion and strengthens the uterus.
iv) The use of Durva Grass cures Cystitis and Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

4) Durva Juice protects pregnancy and improves blood in pregnant women.

5) Durva Paste treats heat stroke.

6) Durva is highly beneficial for women pertaining to any diseases related to the female reproductive system. It strengthens the uterus and stabilizes the fetus.
