Obesity is a growing concern in India today especially if you're an office goer.

Highlighting the ill effects of Obesity, Dr. Amit Deepta Goswami, Consultant Bariatric Surgery, Columbia Asia Hospital Delhi said, “Obesity is not only about the gaining of weight, it’s about the systemic effect of obesity.

Obesity is a multi-system disease which will make the person slow and will make him/her lethargic.

If he/she has gained weight the knees will also start hurting eventually because it’s not only the knees but also the weight bearing joints.

So, it will be very difficult to perform the normal day to day activities even walking and it will become quite problematic because he/she has gained weight."

Here are 3 things that will help you move towards your ideal weight:

🍉 Increase consumption of calorie dilute foods - the popular approach to weight-loss focusses almost exclusively on calorie counting. But a healthier way of going about it is to choose calorie dilute foods. Fruits, vegetables, pulses, lentils, legumes, whole grains, herbs and spices and even nuts and seeds are calorie dilute compared to animal & processed foods.

🍛 Eat only when you are hungry - You will find that often you eat for all the wrong reasons. Boredom, stress, and habit are some triggers that may cause you to reach out for food.

🏃🏽 Move more - It may seem obvious, but effective none the less. Start by walking more and taking the stairs. Build up to a better workout routine slowly and consistently.

Start today. Get your health back into your hands 🙌🏽

Be blessed 💚

"How to maintain a variety when I'm eating Plant Based? I'm afraid it'll be to restrictive and I won't be able to enjoy it much"

Plant Based diets are not restrictive at all. In fact one of the requirements of a well-balanced plant based diet is variety! Fruits, veggies, pulses and legumes, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices, whole grains and even mushrooms all form a part of every meal in a well-planned whole food plant based meal.

In fact, before we as a family started eating a plant based diet, we were eating less variety.

🍚 Think about it, you eat only one type of rice - white rice, many of the dishes you eat especially sweets and snacks are all just maida, sugar, oil and dairy products
🌾 When you upgrade to a plant based diet, focussing on whole foods, you end up eating several types of whole grains - red rice, brown rice, various types of millets, whole wheat, to name a few
🥦 Studies have show that you consume a wider variety of fruits and vegetables when you move to a healthy plant based diet. Greens, cruciferous vegetables. berries like amla, for example are today, a part of our daily diet
🧈 You go from only type of milk to several different types of nut based milks - each with a unique flavour, texture and nutritional profile. Same with butter, there are so many types of nut butters, peanut, cashew, almond, to name a few
🌰 You can make snacks with a variety of grain flours - unpolished rice varieties, ragi, jowar, whole wheat, besan. You can bake or air fry them without a single drop of oil. Same with sweets, you can use so many fruits and dry fruits to sweeten them

This festive season is the perfect time to start, with our range of festive goodies that are every but as healthy as they are tasty

Comment 'TRY' and I'll send you a 10% discount to try our goodies 🤤

"Is there really enough research about a plant based diet?"

"I hear this all the time. Everyone from fitness trainers to even some doctors ask this.

This is one of the reasons, I bring in good quality research papers into my sessions and presentation. Because there IS research.

In fact the overwhelming majority of good quality, peer reviewed research on nutrition and lifestyle disease leads us in the direction of eating more whole foods and more plant foods for optimal health.

Study after study have pointed to this. The Ornish Heart Trial showed that heart disease is not just preventable and treatable, but actually potentially reversible with a whole food plant based diet and other postive lifestyle changes. The China Study - the largest population study on nutrition showed us that a whole plant based diet is associated with reduced disease risk. The list is endless!

This can be hard to believe because it goes against everything we are taught in school and even medical colleges.

It's time to unlearn and relearn. This time, from the best available balance of evidence.
This is why my team and I have designed several online course that help with both the science and cooking. So each of you can learn about nutrition and take charge of your health."

We're in the news!! 🙌🏽

Five years ago, a whole food plant based diet was word that hardly anyone knew.

Today, we have a detailed article on a whole food plant based diet published on written by none other than our dear

We've come a long way.

"If only someone can cook and give me this kind of food daily, I'll be happy to eat it for the rest of my life"

👨🏾‍⚕️ This is one sentence that I hear over and over again from my patients.
👨🏽‍🍳 One of the biggest challenges when adopting a healthy diet is cooking or having access to healthy food consistently.

I truly believe that the way forward is to make whole food plant based options become the default.

is our first step towards making this a reality.

My heartfelt gratitude to Charumathi for writing this important article and spreading the plant-based movement far and wide 🙏🏽

"I've dropped 7 kgs in the last two month thanks to you. Stocking up on the healthy snacks really made a difference apart from meals because I snack quite often. Though it's reducing slowly, I've been enjoying your healthy treats quite a bit and can't wait to finally reach my goals in another month of two. Thank you." - Surabhi
