⏰ * — The Eternal Rhythm of Existence*

In the sacred hymns of the Vedas and the insights of the Upanishads, Kāla (Time) is revered as the eternal continuum—unborn, imperishable, and omnipresent. is not merely a sequence, but the very pulse of cosmic order.

Through following eternal revelations, the sages recognized Kāla as the ultimate law. To surrender to *Time is to align with itself*, realizing that the spirit within transcends the marching moments and abides beyond the flow of past, present, and future.

1. 📌 (19.53.8)

*“काळः प्रजाः वि दधाति सर्वाः।”* (Time creates and directs all beings.)

2. 📌 (10.90.11)

*“तस्माद्यज्ञात्सर्वहुतः ऋचः सामानि जज्ञिरे।”* (From that sacrificial essence, time unfolded the hymns, the metrical order, and the rhythm of the universe, establishing the cycles of creation.)

3. 📌 (6.2)

*“कालः स्वभावो नियतिर्यदृच्छा भूतानि योनिः पुरुष इति चिन्त्यम्।”* (Time, destiny, nature, chance, and the eternal spirit are all reflections of the Supreme Reality.)

The Rigveda, Atharvaveda, and Upanishads say that simply being born in a human body does not make someone truly human. A real human is one who disciplines the mind to walk on the path of righteousness and compassion — “Man follows the mind, therefore he is called Manushya.” That is why the Vedas clearly teach — “Manurbhava” (Rigveda 10.53.6) — meaning “Become a true human.”

In today’s context, this Vedic teaching connects directly with our lifestyle. When we cause suffering to animals just for taste or habit, our mind loses its compassion. But when we choose non-violence in what we eat, wear, and consume, we move closer to the ideal of the “true human” envisioned in the Vedas.

🌸 Stop Animal Sacrifice in Durga Puja 🌸

The Goddess Durga is the eternal Mahishasuramardini. It means she destroys cruelty and darkness, not the seeker of innocent animal blood. True bhakti is never measured in violence, but in compassion and love.

When we place a sword in one hand of Goddess Durga, we must also place a lotus in the other. The sword is for the protection of the weak and the destruction of Adharma—never for the slaughter of helpless animals.

The ancient Vedas and Upanishads are crystal clear: Divine power is pleased not by killing, but by kindness. To kill in the name of the Goddess Durga is to go against Her very spirit. When we shed blood, we stain the festival of Shakti itself—a festival meant to awaken strength, purity, and protection for all.

📌 1. (10.87.16)

“Let no one harm the innocent, neither the one who comes close nor the one passing by.”

📌 2. (36.18)

“With the vision of divine friendship, I look upon all living beings.”

📌 3. (19.48.5)

“Non-violence is the highest Dharma.”

A sacrifice done in ahimsa is the highest offering—a kind heart, a pure prayer, a compassionate deed. That is the offering Mother Durga accepts with joy.

Let us reclaim Durga Puja as a festival of compassion, not cruelty. Let us show the world that our culture celebrates life, not bloodshed. May this Durga Puja/Navratri awaken a new strength—the strength to protect, not to punish; the strength to love, not to destroy.

🐐 🐄 🐪 🐐 🐄 🐪 🐐 🐄 🐪 🐐 🐄 🐪

Rahim was struggling with financial problems for the last few years. His small family consisted of a wife and four children. Every year, as soon as Eid al-Adha came, Rahim's friends and neighbors would start preparing for goat sacrifice. This year too, Rahim wanted to do the same, but due to poor business, he did not have money this time.

One day, Rahim's wife asked in the bedroom at night, “If we are not able to sacrifice goats this time, will people not say anything to us?” Rahim bowed his head, “People will say anything, but only Allah knows our situation.”

The next day Rahim met an Imam who was an animal lover and a kind person. Rahim told him about his concern. The Imam smiled and said, "Son, sacrificing goats is a cruelty and sacrificing animals is not necessary in Islam. If there is a shortage of money, then taking a loan and killing an animal is a double crime according to the law. It is clear in Islam—those who are in debt or poor, they have no burden of following the customs; rather, it is their duty to take care of their family.”

Rahim's eyes filled with tears, and he asked, “But what will people say?” The Imam said, "People will say anything, but Allah looks at your heart. It is said in Sura Al-Imran (3:29) — 'Whether you hide or reveal what is in your heart, Allah knows everything.' It is your intention and struggle that really matter, not the sacrifice of goats.”

Rahim felt good after hearing this, and then he explained to his wife that the real Eid lies in purity of heart, kindness to animals and helping others. He also explained to his friends and neighbours that sacrificing goats on Eid is a cruelty.

*The Cultural Perception of Pleasure and Procreation*

— Prof. Sudesh Kumar ( sudeshkumar.com )

Our understanding of pleasure and procreation is profoundly shaped by multiple factors, viz. cultural, religious, and societal norms. Pleasure is not merely a sensory event, but a complex experience involving emotional states. While procreation is a biological imperative, pleasure serves as a powerful motivator, ensuring that s*xual activity occurs frequently enough to sustain populations.

In Hinduism, *xuality is governed by the concept of k**a (sensual pleasure), one of the four purusharthas (human aims), alongside (duty), artha (prosperity), and (liberation). The Dharma Sastras prescribe marital s*x for procreation, but acknowledges its role in fostering intimacy. The Vedic perspective emphasizes that s*x within marriage should align with dharma, ideally occurring for procreation. The reinforces this by distinguishing **a aligned with duty from hedonistic indulgence.

The ambiguously states, “what seems unnatural is also natural,” Whereas , a socio-political ideology largely rejects non-heteros*xual relations, enforcing traditional marriage norms. However, scholars argue that moksha is attainable regardless of *xualorientation if one practices self-restraint.

In many other faiths and , pleasure is not merely a byproduct but an intended blessing, designed to deepen the bond between spouses and contribute to the flourishing of the relationship. The distinction between " " and " " eros, as described in Plato’s Symposium, highlights the difference between selfish gratification and a love that seeks the good of the other, suggesting that s*xuality can be a means of cultivating virtue and deep relational connection.

The debate over whether s*x is primarily for procreation or pleasure is longstanding, with perspectives shaped by culture, religion, and evolving . For most people today, the majority of s*xual encounters are motivated by pleasure, , stress relief, and , rather than the intent to conceive.
