Many people believe that heavy menstrual bleeding must be present for endometriosis to occur.

In reality, endometriosis symptoms can vary widely from person to person. While some women may experience heavy periods, many others have normal menstrual flow but still suffer from significant pelvic pain, painful periods, or discomfort during daily activities.

Because symptoms can be different for every individual, focusing only on bleeding patterns can lead to missed or delayed diagnosis. Pelvic pain, severe cramps, or pain that interferes with routine life may be more important warning signs.

Recognizing these symptoms early can help women seek timely medical evaluation and appropriate management.

✔ Endometriosis can occur even with normal menstrual flow
✔ Pelvic pain and severe cramps can be key warning signs
✔ Early consultation helps with proper diagnosis and treatment

Understanding these facts empowers women to pay attention to their symptoms and seek the right care when needed.

Many people believe that if painkillers help with period pain, it means there is nothing serious going on.

In reality, this is a common myth. While occasional use of pain relief for mild menstrual cramps can be normal, needing strong painkillers regularly every cycle may be a warning sign of an underlying condition such as endometriosis.

Persistent or severe period pain that interferes with daily activities, work, or school should not be ignored. Relying on painkillers alone may temporarily mask symptoms but does not address the underlying cause.

Recognizing these signs early can help women seek appropriate evaluation and treatment.

✔ Regular need for strong painkillers is a red flag
✔ Severe or disabling period pain is not always normal
✔ Early consultation can help identify underlying conditions

Understanding these facts encourages women to listen to their bodies and seek timely medical advice when symptoms persist.

Many people believe that endometriosis only affects older women.

In reality, this is a common myth. Endometriosis can begin during the teenage years, often soon after menstruation starts. Many adolescents experience severe menstrual pain that is sometimes dismissed as “normal period pain.”

However, persistent or severe painful periods should not be ignored, especially when they interfere with school, daily activities, or quality of life. Early recognition and consultation can help in timely diagnosis and better management of the condition.

Ignoring symptoms for years can delay proper care and prolong unnecessary suffering.

✔ Endometriosis can start in teenage years
✔ Severe or persistent period pain is not always normal
✔ Early consultation can help with timely diagnosis and treatment

Understanding these facts encourages young women and parents to seek appropriate medical advice and support when symptoms appear.

Not all daughters are prepared for their first period.
Sometimes, the silence around it creates more fear than the experience itself.

As a gynecologist, I often see young girls feeling confused or scared—simply because no one spoke to them beforehand.

This reel is a simple guide on when and how to talk to your daughter about periods—so she feels informed, calm, and confident.

Because when it comes to growing up,
preparation builds confidence, not fear.

Many people believe that hysterectomy completely cures endometriosis.

In reality, this is a common misconception. Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, such as on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, pelvic lining, or other nearby organs.

Because of this, removing the uterus (hysterectomy) does not always eliminate the disease, especially if endometriosis lesions remain in other areas of the pelvis.

Treatment for endometriosis depends on the severity of symptoms, the extent of disease, and a woman’s reproductive plans. A personalized approach is often necessary for effective long-term management.

✔ Endometriosis can exist outside the uterus
✔ Hysterectomy does not always cure the condition
✔ Proper diagnosis and individualized treatment are important

Understanding these facts helps women make informed decisions about their health and avoid unnecessary or premature surgical procedures.

Many people believe that getting pregnant can cure endometriosis.

In reality, this is a common myth. Pregnancy may temporarily reduce symptoms in some women due to hormonal changes, but it does not cure endometriosis permanently.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. While some women experience relief during pregnancy, symptoms can return after delivery when normal menstrual cycles resume.

Believing pregnancy is a cure can delay proper treatment and medical care for women dealing with persistent symptoms.

✔ Pregnancy may temporarily reduce symptoms
✔ Endometriosis is a chronic condition and not cured by pregnancy
✔ Proper diagnosis and long-term management are important

Understanding the facts helps women make informed decisions about their health and seek appropriate medical guidance for managing endometriosis.

“You don’t look like a doctor.” I get that a lot.
Initially, I used to take it as a compliment, but over time I realized how strongly we’ve all built a fixed image of what a doctor is supposed to look like — always serious, always tired, always in a white coat. 🥼

What people often don’t see behind our smiles are the sleepless nights, the long duties, the emotional exhaustion that quietly builds up over the years. Burnout in this profession is very real. Lately, I’ve come across so many stories from residents, and it took me right back to my own residency days — reminding me how tough that phase really is, and how much strength it takes to keep going every single day.

Maybe that’s why I feel it’s important to break this stereotype sometimes — to step out, to breathe, to live a little, to smile in natural light without a filter. ☀️✨
Because behind the white coat is not just a doctor, but a completely normal human being trying to live life while carrying the responsibility of caring for others. 🤍

Many people believe that endometriosis means a woman can never get pregnant.

In reality, this is a common myth. Many women with endometriosis are able to conceive naturally and have healthy pregnancies.

While endometriosis can affect fertility in some cases—depending on its severity, location, and associated inflammation—it does not automatically mean infertility. With proper evaluation, treatment, and guidance, many women successfully achieve pregnancy.

Ignoring this misconception is important because fear and misinformation can create unnecessary stress for women trying to conceive.

✔ Endometriosis does not always cause infertility
✔ Many women with endometriosis conceive naturally
✔ Early diagnosis and proper treatment can improve fertility outcomes

Understanding the facts helps women make informed decisions about their reproductive health and seek timely medical care when needed.

Not all contraception methods work the same way.
Some are highly reliable, some work only if used perfectly, and some… are simply wishful thinking.

As a gynecologist, I often see the real-life outcomes of these choices.

This reel is a quick honest rating of common contraception methods based on effectiveness and real-world use.

Because when it comes to reproductive health,
informed choices matter.
