PPE Saved Him, But It Shouldn't Have Come to That

PPE is the last line of defense—it’s there when everything else fails. But safety isn’t about just wearing PPE; it’s about preventing the accident in the first place.

Here’s the right way to manage risks, step by step:

1. Eliminate the hazard – Can you remove the risk entirely?

2. Substitute – Use something safer instead.

3. Engineering controls – Put physical barriers or solutions in place.

4. Administrative controls – Set clear rules, training, and procedures.

5. PPE – Use this only when all else is in place.

In this case, the plank wasn’t tied properly, causing it to flip, and someone fell. PPE saved them, but better controls could have prevented the fall altogether.

Life is precious. One mistake is all it takes—don’t take shortcuts with safety.

🔥 Reverse Firefighting: Fighting Fire with Fire! 🔥

📹 Watch this incredible video showing the technique of reverse firefighting.

In this method, controlled fires are intentionally set on grass or trees in the path of an approaching wildfire. By carefully burning away the fuel in advance, the main fire is deprived of anything to consume, stopping it in its tracks.

Why It Works:
🌱 Creates a firebreak by removing vegetation ahead of the wildfire.
🌬️ Uses wind direction and controlled burns to halt fire spread.
👩‍🚒 Conducted by trained firefighters to prevent disasters.

Key Benefits:
✔️ Limits the wildfire’s growth.
✔️ Protects nearby communities and ecosystems.
✔️ Reduces the risk of uncontrolled destruction.

🔥 Reverse firefighting is a reminder of how innovation and strategy can turn nature’s force into an ally.
