Bahái Temple, Chicago — one of the seven Bahá’í temples in the world.
A beautiful and peaceful place.
The white temple brings calm, and the silence inside touches the heart.
A space where all faiths come together and you feel close to the divine.

Feeling truly blessed to mark India’s 79th Independence Day in the presence of a 109-year-young inspiration. To witness such a long life lived with dignity, resilience, and grace reminds us that independence is not just about a nation’s freedom—it’s also about the strength of spirit to live fully and meaningfully.May we carry forward the wisdom of our elders while building a future worth celebrating for generations to come. 🇮🇳✨

Understanding the Silent Suffering of Our Elders
(For ages 60–86)

In many rural and tribal communities, elders are silently bearing the weight of lifelong hard work. Common health issues among them include:

🔹 Stroke (Cerebral Vascular Accident)
🔹 Diabetes
🔹 High Blood Pressure
🔹 Arthritis
🔹 Muscle aches

But one condition stands out—Mob Laug, often described as “old age pain.”
This pain is deep, rooted in years of labor, injuries, and for women, sometimes linked to post-childbirth practices not being followed due to lack of awareness or rest. It’s a pain that worsens in cold or rainy weather and is hard to cure.

Other rising health concerns include:
⚠️ Heart Attacks
⚠️ Kidney problems
⚠️ Bladder stones
⚠️ Gout
⚠️ Cancer

These are not just medical terms—they represent real stories of suffering, resilience, and the urgent need for better elder healthcare.

Let us listen. Let us act.

The Silver Tsunami is Here – Are We Ready?

Thanks to modern medicine and better public health, people today are living longer, healthier lives.
But this brings a new challenge—India’s elderly population is rising rapidly.

👵🏻👴🏻 In India, we’re seeing a silver tsunami—a wave of senior citizens growing faster than any other age group.
By 2050, 1 in every 5 Indians will be above 60.

This change is a blessing—but also a responsibility.

💬 Are we prepared to:
• Provide them dignity in old age?
• Offer accessible healthcare in cities and villages?
• Create systems where they feel heard, safe, and useful?

Most of India’s elderly live in rural areas—many still working in the fields, with no pensions, no retirement, and often, no one to care for them.

As a country that respects its elders, let’s not leave them behind.
Growing old should not mean growing invisible.

🙏 Let us come together to care, to listen, and to support—because the future is not just young, it’s also grey.

🧓🏼
During my recent work with elderly people, I found many are living with long-term health problems like:

🔹 Stroke
🔹 Diabetes
🔹 High Blood Pressure
🔹 Arthritis
🔹 Muscle and body pain

One condition that came up again and again was mob laug (old age pain) — deep, ongoing pain in the back, chest, arms, or legs. Elders believe this comes from doing heavy physical work when they were younger.

Many elderly women also shared that mob laug may be linked to not getting enough rest or not following traditional food practices after childbirth. This pain often gets worse in cold or rainy weather and is hard to cure.

Interestingly, this understanding is also seen in Hmong culture and was documented by Dr. Dia Cha, who wrote about how traditional beliefs shape how elders experience pain and aging.

🔍 Other health concerns I noticed included:
• Heart problems
• Kidney issues
• Bladder stones
• Gout
• Cancer
• Urinary incontinence
• Vertigo (dizziness or loss of balance)

All these findings show how important it is to listen to our elders, understand their health concerns, and create better, culturally aware healthcare systems—especially in rural areas.

1. Dementia is NOT just part of getting older.

It’s a medical condition that needs awareness and care. Early understanding can make a big difference in a loved one’s life. Let’s spread the word and support those affected. 💙

2. Spotting dementia early helps!

If you notice memory loss or confusion in yourself or someone you love, consult a doctor. Early diagnosis means better care and more time to plan for the future. 🕰️

3. Behind every dementia diagnosis is a person who deserves respect.

Let’s treat those living with dementia with kindness, dignity, and love every single day. Their story doesn’t end with this illness. ❤️

4. Caring for someone with dementia is a journey of patience.

Caregivers need support, understanding, and resources. If you’re caring for someone, remember: you’re not alone. Reach out, ask for help, and take care of yourself too. 🤗

5. Familiar spaces calm the mind.

Creating a safe, comforting environment reduces confusion and fear for people with dementia. Small changes at home can bring big peace of mind. 🏡

6. Keeping the mind active matters!

Encourage conversations, games, music, and hobbies to help slow down cognitive decline. Every little interaction counts. 🎨🧩

7. Healthy habits help manage dementia symptoms.

Balanced nutrition, gentle exercise, and regular medical check-ups are key. A healthy body supports a healthier mind. 🍎🚶‍♂️

8. Let’s end the stigma around dementia.

It’s okay to talk openly, ask questions, and learn. Education creates compassionate communities that uplift everyone affected. 💬🤝

9. Plan early for the future.

Legal and financial decisions should be made while the person with dementia can still participate. Protect their rights and dignity today for peace of mind tomorrow. 📑💡

10. Together, we can create a caring community.

Support research, advocate for better care, and spread kindness. Every effort helps improve life for those living with dementia and their families. 🌍❤️
