HISTORY OF BADE DAUJI
Sri Dham Vrindavan, the most sacred place of the whole universe is situated on the bank of River Yamuna. The incredible Vrindavan is the playground of Lord Sri Krishna and His elder brother Lord Balaram. According to ancient statistics it is said that around 5000 temples are there in Vrindavan. Among them the 7 temples which were established by the Acharyas of Bramha Madhva Gaudiya Sampradaya are most important. Govind Dev temple, Gopinath temple, and Madanmohan temple are most special among those 7 temples. According to our ancient scriptures or various puranas Vajranabha, the great grandson of Lord Krishna installed so many deities of Lord Krishna and Balaram with the help of demigod Vishwakarma. Sri Govind Dev Jiu who is now residing in Jaipur is one of the most important among them. After Vajranabha left this material world,for a long period of time Govind Dev Jiu and other deities were hidden under the ground. After a long period of time around 1536 AD Srila Rupa Goswami found Govind Dev Jiu from Go-ma Tila ( previously known as Kesi Tirtha or Yoga Pitha in Dwapar Yuga) with the help of Vrajawasis. At the same time when Govind Dev Jiu appeared from Go-ma Tila , the deity of Lord Balaram ' Bade Dauji' also appeared with Him, previously who was actually installed by Vajranabha at the same time with other deities 'Dirgha Vishnu' and 'Keshav Dev' in Mathura, 'Govind Dev' in Vrindavan, ' Hari Dev Jiu' in Govardhan, ' Gokuleswar' in Gokul and ' Bala Dauji' near about 10 Km. away from Gokul. After their appearance from Go- ma Tila Govind Dev Jiu and Dauji were installed there on the Tila. After that in the year 1565 King Maan Singh of Jaipur, who was desciple of Srila Rupa Goswami made a beautiful temple of red stone and the deities were installed in the temple. But later on when Aurangzeb attacked Vrindavan, Sri Govind Dev Jiu was shifted to Jaipur but Dauji stayed back. When Maan Singh's daughter came to know about Dauji, She arranged to take Him with her to Jaipur. But on the same night Dauji came to her dream and refused to go. Then when Aurangzeb attacked Govind Dev temple, Dauji deity was hidden in a near by pond by vrajawasis. Later on for few years Dauji was served as Gupta Dauji at the back side of Govind Dev temple. After few years a new temple was built near by Govind Dev temple, presently the area is known as 'Anaj Mandi'. Then after so many years around in the year 1835 renovation of the temple was done by the queen of 'Saneth' a place near by Karoli. Presently Dauji is accepting service from Sri Vishnu Gopal Goswami and his sons Sri Ved Gopal Goswami and Sri Dhiraj Goswami. Still now Dauji is showering His mercy on everyone.
