Lupus is a chronic rheumatic disease that causes inflammation in various tissues of the body. This disease is seen in patients with different severity and has two types.
Systemic lupus erythematosus, abbreviated SLE, is a type of autoimmune disease that occurs when a patient's immune system begins to attack a person's own tissues and organs. These attacks cause inflammation, swelling and damage to various parts of the body such as joints, skin, kidneys, blood, heart and lungs.
The symptoms of lupus are similar to those of some skin conditions, making it difficult to diagnose. Some people are born prone to the disease, and simple, common factors such as infections, taking certain medications, or even sunlight can trigger lupus. Although there is no complete cure for lupus, there are treatments to control and reduce it. For reading more about this article please check out our website: www.iht.health/lupus/
