Today is seven months without Lucy.

I honored her today by meeting in person an incredible woman who has been a leader in dog rescue and animal advocacy (with an emphasus on stray dogs and cats) in Sicily for many years… She is someone I admire greatly and have gotten to know via Instagram. We met, walked the town with two of the dogs in her care, and had dinner together.

As I’ve told others in my very basic Italian, “Vedo, scrivo, vado” which translates to, “I see, I write, I go,” a preface which not only set the scene for this adventure, but also connects me to part of myself I haven’t connected with in a long time.

Nica and Peppa took food from me so gently, and it was the first time in many moons I’d fed a dog in that manner. Lucy is here with me, as she is daily. Thinking of you always, my precious best girl. I miss you incredibly.
