⠀
Well done Leo for smashing your due date by non other than 15 days 😳 you clearly didn’t like the year 2019 and decided to come out whenever you wanted and at your own pace. Cool, noted: you don’t like to be told what do and want to make your own decisions 😁
⠀
, you are simply a hero 👏🏻 I knew women could find a superhuman strength during labour but what happened in that delivery room was just unbelievable. Let me tell you.
⠀
Maria wanted a natural birth with very limited medical intervention possible, but after 36 hours of being in labour we were not there yet. So we had to opt for an oxytocin drip to stimulate more frequent and strong contractions and epidural, as contractions caused by a synthetic oxytocin are extremely painful.⠀
And ... drip worked while epidural didn’t 😳 so she found herself in that pain for hours, tied to different machines, cords and catheters with a reduced ability to move...
⠀
After two hours they invited an anaesthetist to redo the epidural injection.
But Maria stopped everyone and asked to have every tube/needle in her body removed as she wanted to carry on with the labour on her own and have a freedom of movement, strongly against doctors’ decision.
⠀
I was in shock, seriously, couldn’t believe that after all that she went through, she wanted go ahead all by herself until the end 😳 Well, she did! And in 4 hours Leo was finally with us! Without any single intervention or pain relief!
⠀
I laughed when hearing that fathers could faint in that delivery room... I didn’t, but went really close right during the final stage. Just because I didn’t have enough sleep 🤦🏼♂️ while she’d been in labour for 2 days already and kept going!
⠀
There is much more to the story, but I will stop myself here.
⠀
I bet all fathers can go through a crisis after seeing how strong women can be! Bless you all 🙏🏻
