Let this sink in.

I heard these words on .crawford podcast this week spoken by and I stopped in my tracks to write them down on a post it.

How often are the words we speak to ourselves harsh, untrue, learned and even misleading? Would you speak to your friend, sibling, partner or family member the way your speak to yourself?

Our body is not only the house we live in, but it’s our home. And what makes a house a home? In my opinion it’s not the material things the home is filled with, but the feeling, character and warmth ♥️

Being mindful of the words you speak to yourself especially on days where you may be finding things tough 💭

Sunday evening thoughts 💭

Even though it was a long weekend, how is tomorrow still Monday? If you’re in the Sunday night fear category, I hear ya.

Despite it being a long weekend, I didn’t really get up to much. Worked a lot, drank lots of coffee, did some yoga and slept.

Study was on the agenda but I couldn’t even look at my laptop. I needed a break and reminding myself that taking a break is ok even if it feels uncomfortable.

I’m more motivated to plan my holiday currently. We are travelling in May and it can’t come quick enough ☀️☀️

So if you’re dreading being back to reality tomorrow, that’s ok go easy on yourself. It’ll soon be the weekend again and look the days are getting brighter so that’s always a plus 🌸☀️

New week. (Almost) A new month 💫

The days are getting longer and brighter and I feel like sunny spring days are in our reach.

Some of you might feel completely comfortable removing your mask in most settings today, some might not feel comfortable at all. As I always say in my classes, do what feels right and comfortable for you 🤍

I think there is also a heaviness in the air this week, which is completely fair with what’s going on in the world at the moment. Ukraine are in my thoughts these past few days, what’s going on seems incomprehensible.

Sending all of my thoughts and prayers to everyone affected 🇺🇦🙏🏽

Non judgement 💫

This week in my self practice I’ve been trying to incorporate non judgment and kindness. Something that I might do in my practice today, I might not be able to do tomorrow and vice versa 🙌🏼 Everyday is different and brings up new challenges. Do you show yourself kindness when practicing?

Last two weeks of my chakra course are coming up before a new one begins in a few weeks time 🤍

Next weeks theme is 3rd eye chakra, so lots of talk about our inner wisdom 💫

Stillness 💫

Finding still moments between the madness and craziness of ‘real life’ after COVID is difficult, always finding myself needing to do more, see more, live more.

The practice of being still even for 5 minutes has been an eye opening one - a way to just stop, notice and feel what’s going on.

Stillness can be something as simple as just sitting, breathing or finding some time away from devices etc.

Do you find becoming still helps you with busy everyday life? Or what do you turn to?

Happy Saturday 💫

Monday morning launches week 3 of my 7 week chakra course. We’re moving up to the fiery solar plexus area. There will be lots of twists and building of heat in the body 🔥

You can drop in on a weekly basis and all yogis will receive their recording at 8am Monday morning which they will have access to for one week.

I hope you have a great weekend ahead. I’m planning lots of rest and reading as it’s been a busy January. What are you up to?

How I fell in love with Yoga

If anyone knows me, they are probably thinking the yoga mat was the last place I would end up. I was constantly go, go, go. I enjoyed running, the gym, lifting weights, just being generally fit and healthy. It wasn’t until I injured my hip quite badly a few years ago that made me stop right in my tracks and think woah! What am I running from?

The hip injury isn’t really the story here but months of pain, physiotherapy and rehab, I was completely miserable because even going for a walk on the beach would be painful. I have actually never got back to running since because it just causes a flare up. This is where the beautiful practice of yoga has come in.

Yoga had always been a part of my life from the time before I went to university and now in the working world. But when I say it was part of my life, I was going to one class a week and simply doing it for the ‘stretch’ or to improve my flexibility to aid in my gym work or running. I didn’t like to meditate because I always got an overwhelming panic when I tried to quieten the mind. I suffered quite badly with my mental health through my teenage years and even into my early twenties, constantly trying to escape my thoughts, which is probably why I found it so difficult to switch off in meditation and yoga practice.

It wasn’t until I injured my hip and actually had no where else to run but just to sit with myself and my thoughts. That was the start of my journey and I have never looked back. I practice yoga every day now and I might not necessarily be on my mat, but just being mindful, caring and grateful for everything/everyone around me is enough. Yoga brings me a sense of calm, vitality, strength, power, confidence and bliss to name a few. These feelings I would not have got in the gym. It sounds like I’m really bashing the gym here, I’m not - I’ve just found the feeling in yoga that someone else might get dead-lifting. I found my groove!
