YfR Umbria Retreat. Did I mention the food😋.

A lesson from our chef In 2 hrs we made focaccia, tagliatelli, gnocchi and crostada. Ahhhmazing. Thanks for the suggestion. Many new cooking skills to practice now. Carbo loading anyone?🍝

YfR Umbria Retreat. Excursion and day of rest from practice. Shopping at cashmere outlet, shoe shops, cafes and visiting many of my personal favourites in Perugia.

Star of the day was our castle lunch at in Spina. Home cooked meal that was utterly delicious and perfectly paired wine from

Line of the day, ‘Christine, can you call the retreat centre to cancel dinner’. 😂😂😂

YfR Umbria Retreat. Some fancy footwork to start the day and working that into our practice. Feet are our major base of stability.

Then more great food and some lounging. That’s needed when you get up early to start the day with a very hilly hike - great company makes it easier.

I am in love with this overhead back pull down. After 4 years of work to wake up my mid back muscles (that were completely dead through my years of yoga practice), it is so gratifying to ‘feel’ back there.
Interesting note that I would not have been able to do this without all the other work I’ve done. Maintaining a stable trunk with my shoulders in full flexion and pulling down with the back muscles not the arms.
As usual excellent cuing and guidance by

FINALLY…… 📣📣 a live in-person workshop.
Other than some outdoor classes last summer, this is my first in person class in 2 1/2 years. Having the online process all set up now I am so happy to make this workshop available as an online option as well. That means you can participate, or do the recording, from wherever you may be.
SUNDAY, JUNE 19, 2-4:00 pm. See link in bio for more details and to register. DM with questions.
This is my most popular workshop and typically sells out. Work will include a variety of exercises and yoga poses to mobilize, strengthen and, yes, even stretch. Your hips, hamstrings and back will feel delightfully happy after!

When I started strength training about 4 years it was suggested that I set a goal. So I set pull-ups as my goal. Little did I know how lofty this was.
💪
I started with my shoulders and upper body in such a mess with muscular imbalances so had a huge deficit to deal with. I enrolled in a number of programs and learned valuable information and techniques in each — . But nothing compares to having one-on-one training with a coach who cares about your goals as much as you do. Thank you
👍
This is the best I’ve done so far, that top range has been the most difficult. The work isn’t over. I want it to be pretty🤩. But what a great feeling to be getting stronger and building much needed muscle mass……..even at 69 years.

Always makes me happy to practice with Cecily Yoga Detour. Miss her classes virtual will do too.

Push ups….Definitely a hallmark of full body strength. When my shoulders became so injured from thousands of chaturangas, getting to the point where it hurt just to lift my arm, I couldn’t even imagine a push-up. After 4 years of strength training, it’s come a long way.
The first one is a negative push up, going down for a count of 3 —- arms supposed to be at 90, pause, 5he push up. But the video says otherwise. 😂 Interesting as lowering all the way to the floor and back is easier. 🤔
Suggest building a good strong plank to start. Then you can have fun by adding a plank row🔥🔥 Thanks for hitting all the spots in your programming.
Remember we need muscle mass as we age. At 69, I feel stronger than I have ever felt.

Another sell-out retreat in one of my favourite places on earth Scroll to get a taste. I love introducing people to this space plus I always look forward to having a whole week to instruct a diverse group of keen students.
☀️
I hate disappointing interested participants by giving the wait list option only. If you think you may be interested in future events see link in bio and sign up for my newsletter. Oh…and you don’t have to be a runner 😉….
