Self-care is both an art and a science—much like baking these cookies.

I started with an objective—gluten-free, dairy-free, low-sugar, and high-fiber.

And chocolate. Always chocolate.

I knew a few key ingredients had to be added to make it all come together - that's where the science comes in.

The batter wasn’t perfect at first, but my experience and patience guided me.

I made a few adjustments and got the result I was after.

Self-care works the same way.

It’s about finding the right mix of ingredients that align with you and your needs in this chapter of life.

Eating healthy doesn't have to be complicated!

It’s all about keeping it simple with the right formula:

✔️Protein

✔️Fiber

✔️Healthy Fats

✔️Flavour

This 15-minute buckwheat pasta with tomatoes, asparagus, and tuna checks all the boxes.

Protein: Tuna - I used one packed in extra virgin olive oil

Fiber: Buckwheat pasta + asparagus

Healthy Fats: extra virgin olive oil

Flavour: Fresh cherry tomatoes (also fiber) & seasoning

Quick, delicious, and nourishing!

Healthy eating can be easy, simple and fun with the right ingredients on hand and the simple formula above.

As always it's been a year of reflection and introspection. With each passing year it feels deeper and more profound. I chalk it up to wisdom. Life experience? Age? All of the above.

I got inspired by to make my own list of lessons from 2024.

Most of these are an amalgam of thoughts and ideas that have been brewing for years, reinforced by conversations with loved ones, dear friends, colleagues and clients.

Teaching, preaching, coaching and forever learning the lessons I most need to find inner peace.

Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a day dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for a world free of gender based violence.

The stats are shocking, disgusting and heartbreaking:

- An estimated 736 million women—almost one in three—have been subjected to physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both at least once in their life (30 per cent of women aged 15 and older). 

- 60 per cent of all female homicides are committed by intimate partners or other family members

- Every 10 minutes a women is killed

- By the time they are 19 years old, almost 1 in 4 adolescent girls (24%) who have been in a relationship have already been physically, sexually, or psychologically abused by a partner.

- Less than 40 per cent of the women who experience violence seek help of any sort. 

And that's just a few of the stats I found on the UN website.

If nothing changes nothing changes.

Let's stand together for change, spread awareness, and commit to breaking the cycle of violence.

How do you nourish your soul?

We often hear about nourishing the body and mind

Food
Movement
Therapy
Mindset shifts

But we rarely hear, let alone learn, about nourishing the soul.

It nurtures the deepest part of your being.

It's not complicated or "woowoo" and if you've never experienced the benefits of it you're missing out on true health and well-being.

For me, these cookies nourish my soul.

Not because of their healthy ingredients or deliciousness

But because my mama made them for me and I'm enjoying them while i spend quality time with her...

letting myself be taken care of by her...

and having "i almost peed my pants laughs" with her.

Sometimes nourishing my soul looks different...
..sitting on the stool in the bathroom and crying
..cuddling with my little girl
..dancing in the living room to the movie credits with her (we do that a lot)
..practicing gratitude for everything in my life, especially when I'm feeling the least grateful and most negative

Nourishing the soul is personal.

It's anything and everything that nurtures your essence and lifts you up...

It's your tiramisù (not the italian dessert but the meaning of it's name - pick me up).
