That's a wrap. Today I said goodbye to my last yoga students as I prepare for my move to Italy.
I am full of gratitude for the chance to meet so many wonderful humans. Truly inspiring people have crossed my path since I began my yoga journey and I have loved sharing my knowledge and passion with all the students, walking the walk with my colleagues as well as learning from great teachers.
Together we created a lovely community and supported each other on so many topics and aspects of life.
Thank you for all your love and kindness, I will miss you 💛

20 years of full time desk job are showing in my shoulders. Our bodies and minds are shaped by the experiences in our lives. A regular yoga practice can help softening physical and mental tension.

Come practice with me on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:30am at Parkgate Community Centre. Book your space here: https://6seasonsofyoga.simplybook.it

Buckwheat with chickpeas, beetroot and the stalk of purple broccoli (because nothing goes to waste in my house 😉).

👍 Keep it simple, nutritious and tasty.

✌️I like to add herbs and spices just before serving. This time I used sage, turmeric powder and black pepper

🤟 Remember to chop your cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower etc. - you easily find the full list on the web) at least 30 minutes before eating or cooking them (ideally 90 min before). This allows activation of sulforaphane, which can help with prevention of certain types of cancer, as well as activating our detox enzymes.

🖖 Best way to cook your veggies is steaming.

Following the chat at the end of class yesterday, when someone mentioned people being particularly angry and aggressive at this time of year, this Buddhist parable came to mind.
There are many different versions out there, however the meaning is the same.

“One day Buddha was walking through a village. A very angry and rude young man came up and began insulting him.

“You have no right teaching others,” he shouted. “You are as stupid as everyone else. You are nothing but a fake.”

Buddha was not upset by these insults. Instead he asked the young man “Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not take it, to whom does the gift belong?”

The man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and answered, “It would belong to me, because I bought the gift.”

The Buddha smiled and said:

“That is correct. And it is exactly the same with your anger. If you become angry with me and I do not get insulted, then the anger falls back on you. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you have done is hurt yourself.

“If you want to stop hurting yourself, you must get rid of your anger and become loving instead. When you hate others, you yourself become unhappy. But when you love others, everyone is happy.”
