Somei Yoshino (Cherry Blossoms) Under the Full Moon

Last night’s full moon (April 2) 🌕 and cherry blossoms made for a perfect spring scene🌸
Sharing a few moments from a beautiful evening.

Even though the moon is now just past full, it’s not too late to enjoy the view!! If you have the chance tonight, we highly recommend taking a moment to see it for yourself☺️

Cherry blossom season is short, but truly special. We hope you can enjoy it during your time in Japan.

Fresh, fluffy, and filled with island flavors 🍩

I recently stopped by Hawaiian Sweets Company in Yokohama and tried their malasadas.
They are soft on the inside with just the right amount of sweetness.
A little taste of Hawaii🌴
(The waffles were also good!)

It can get busy in this area on weekends, but I was able to grab some without much of a wait.

If you ever get the chance to visit Yokosuka, this is one spot that’s definitely worth checking out.

Million Dollar Ice Cream is located just minutes from base and has become a local favorite for a reason.

Most of their ice cream and even some of the toppings are made in house, which is why everything tastes so fresh✨
There’s a richness you just don’t get from store bought ice cream.

From classics to creative combos like salted peanut butter chocolate or mango coconut, there’s always something to try.

If you haven’t been in a while, it might be time for another scoop!

💬 Personally, I thought it was pretty interesting that they sell a pin called the Honch Rat warfare 😄
I feel like it’d be a great gift for anyone who used to be stationed in Yokosuka.

If you are an early riser in Sasebo, here is a Japanese breakfast spot worth checking out.

SASEBOX 99 opens from 7:00 AM, but only one restaurant inside opens at this time, and the menu is limited.

It is simple, affordable and delicious.

This breakfast set was just 600 yen, and you get quite a lot for the price.

It is a very traditional Japanese style breakfast, but the dried horse mackerel (aji) was absolutely amazing.

Just a heads up, this is not the place for pancakes or a Western style breakfast, but if you want to try a simple and authentic Japanese morning meal, it is definitely worth it.

If you are looking for restaurants that match your preferences, please feel free to contact us.
We are happy to research suitable options and can also assist with reservations when required.

March 11 is a day of remembrance in Japan, when many people reflect on the lives affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

It is also a reminder of how important it is to be prepared for emergencies.

Not a fan of MREs? There are also plenty of non-perishable food options you can keep at home.

I recently started putting together my own emergency supplies and picked these up just last week, so I thought I would share it.

This can with the panda on the label actually contains bread, and the expiration date goes all the way to 2030!
Even the onigiri lasts until 2031!!

Japan has some pretty impressive emergency food options.

Stay safe and be prepared.

Sometimes you don’t realize how good the good old days were until they’re gone.

That is why the moments you are living right now truly matter.

Your time in Japan is not just a stay.
It is a meaningful chapter of your life.
The small conversations, first experiences, new friendships, and everyday discoveries will one day become the memories you look back on.

Please do not let language become the reason you miss those special moments.

At Explore Translation, we are here to support your journey, help you connect with people around you, and allow you to fully experience everything Japan has to offer with confidence and peace of mind.

Let us help you turn today’s moments into tomorrow’s beautiful memories.

Craving authentic Japanese ramen? 🍜

Some ramen shops use a ticket machine system. Before entering, you simply choose your meal from a vending machine at the entrance and purchase a meal ticket.
Then you hand the ticket to the staff and wait for your ramen to be served.

If you’re new to Japan, this system might feel unfamiliar at first, but don’t worry. This shop provides English on both the menu and the ticket machine, making it easy and stress-free to order.

No complicated conversations, no language barrier, just pick your ramen, grab your ticket, take a seat, and enjoy❣️😋🍜

Experiencing these small cultural differences is part of what makes Japan so special ✨
