Last Friday we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan at our annual gala. Funeral Support Services was the sponsor for the Cocktail Reception. Good bye Italy. It was a very interesting business trip to Venice, Florence and Milan. Attended the ITIC conference, met up with many business associates and friends and toured the Pozzoli Funeral Home in Milan. FSS works hard to connect with people in our profession so when the time comes we have someone to call upon to help the families we serve. This was such a pleasure to share one of most beautiful areas of the Ottawa area. Thank you Sharon for your kind hospitality.

We were thrilled to welcome Rob Hoey, President of Funeral Support Services Co. Ltd. in Japan, and a former Hulse, Playfair & McGarry Funeral Director (1988–1993), along with his Japanese colleagues for a visit and tour of our Wakefield Chapel. 🇨🇦🇯🇵

Before moving to Japan, Rob was hired by a Japanese funeral company to introduce embalming — a practice that was just starting there, as previously only dry ice was used to preserve bodies.

It was wonderful to reconnect, share ideas, and enjoy the beauty of Gatineau’s fall colours together. 🍂

We had a fantastic time at the NFDA Convention in Chicago. Funeral Support Services was joined by our business associates from Japan. The chemical booth was hopping and is gaining more and more interest every year. was also very active with many members stopping by. .luca and and I had an embalming committee meeting to discuss our progress with the committee. The Tokyo Union Church was kind enough to share their space for our Interfaith Council meeting and luncheon last week. The Interfaith Council brings together leaders from different religious institutions so we can learn about each other‘s faith and so we can work together to bring goodness to this world we live in. With so much darkness and polarization in the world recently it’s good that no matter what our faith is we can work together and be friends. serves families from many different faiths and cultures without prejudice.
