Beef Biriani
Swahili Beef Biriani
1 kg beef fillet steak (if using a tough cut of meat you will need to add in 1-2 cups of water in the mix and cook Until your meat is tender)
500ml veg oil
4 large onion sliced
1/2 kg potatoes peeled and cut into halves
1 teaspoon garlic minced
1 teaspoon ginger minced
1 tablespoon whole pilau mix
2 tomatoes cubed
1 green pepper finely diced
300g tomato paste
3 lemons squeezed
250ml Buttermilk (maziwa Lala)
Salt to taste
Rice
2 cups Pishori or basmati rice
4 cups Water
1/2 teaspoon yellow food color or saffron
Salt to taste
