Malawi Heart Mission!

A Two-Week Mission of Healing, Hope & Impact

Every year, the Tenwek Cardiothoracic Centre sends a specialized team to Malawi in collaboration with team from USA to provide a free, life-saving cardiac surgeries to patients who would otherwise have no access to advanced heart care. This year’s mission was one of the most transformative yet — both for the patients and the team that served.

Over a focused and intense two-week period, our Cardiothoracic team delivered:

• 13 Open Heart Surgeries
• 1 Cardiac Catheterization
• 12 Pacemaker Implantations
• ⁠over 300 follow-ups and screenings

Behind each number is a story — these are lives rewritten. Futures restored.

Celebrating Excellence in Care.

Today, we proudly honored the remarkable dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment of our CTC nursing teams during the Healing Hearts Awards. Nurses and support staff from Endoscopy, OPD, CCU, and Theatre were recognized for their exemplary performance ~ individuals who continuously go above and beyond to heal, comfort, lead, and transform lives every single day.

Though only a few names were officially called, every nurse in the Cardiothoracic Centre holds an essential place in our mission. Each one carries the heart of Tenwek in their hands, shaping patient journeys with skill, empathy, and genuine love for service.

Our CTC Senior Director also shared a warm breakfast with all CTC nurses, appreciating them not just for what they do, but for who they are: pillars of hope, excellence, and compassionate care.

Here’s to every nurse and support staff member ~ your impact is felt, your work is valued, and your dedication continues to inspire us all.
