The desire to just forget is always in conflict with the need to keep remembering. That is where Surviving Grief always comes in for solutions.

There are moments in grief when memories are both the most beautiful and the most painful thing we carry.

Sometimes a memory comes to us like a special gift. We remember the sound of our loved one’s laughter, the way they said our name, or some small ordinary moment we shared that didn’t seem important at the time.

And for a brief second it almost feels like they’re still nearby,
and we’re grateful for the life we had together.

But there are other memories too.
Because in my case, my memories don’t only hold the good years.
They also hold the final chapter.

I remember being a caregiver. I remember sitting beside the person I loved and watching them slowly slip away day after day.

The long nights.
The doctor appointments.
The hospital rooms.

The moments when I wished with everything in me that I could somehow take the pain away.

Here’s the thing…those memories stay with me as well.

Sometimes they come back when I least expect them. A smell, a song, a quiet moment in the day, and suddenly I’m there again. Not just remembering the life we lived together but remembering what it felt like to walk through those final days.

Grief has a way of holding all of those memories at once.
The beautiful ones that remind us how deeply we loved,
and the painful ones that remind us how hard it was to say goodbye.

And over time…we come to realize that both kinds of memories are part of loving someone who meant so much to us.

They may be gone…
but they are never truly lost.

In every memory, every story, every quiet moment—they remain.

On this World Poetry Day,
let us remember them.
Let us honour them.

Surviving Grief is the place to be for brothers and sisters who have lost a loved one.

I wrote this because many people discover that grief is very different from what they expected.

And if it helps someone you care about understand grief a little better, feel free to share it.

Every Life Deserves to Be Remembered
For generations, families have preserved memories of loved ones through newspaper obituaries, printed memorials, or albums. Unfortunately, these records fade or get lost over time.

ObituaryWeb was created to change that. Our platform offers two main services:

1️⃣ Obituaries – for loved ones who have passed but are yet to be laid to rest.
• Create a digital page with biography, photos, and life story
• Receive condolences from friends and relatives

2️⃣ Memorials – for loved ones already laid to rest.
• Preserve memories and life stories digitally
• Share photos and biographies
• Celebrate anniversaries and remembrances each month

With ObituaryWeb, families can ensure the memory of their loved ones is preserved permanently, and friends and relatives anywhere in the world can participate in honoring them.

To help you, your family and friends keep the flame of your loved ones burning long after they have gone. We offer a shoulder to lean on during the difficult time of mourning and thereafter, for ever.
