Ever looked at your glasses prescription and felt like you were reading a secret code? 🕵️♀️ Don't worry, you're not alone! Here's a quick guide to understanding those numbers:
OD (Oculus Dexter): Your right eye
OS (Oculus Sinister): Your left eye
SPH (Sphere): This indicates the power of your lens, measured in diopters. A minus sign (-) means you're nearsighted, and a plus sign (+) means you're farsighted
CYL (Cylinder) & AXIS: These numbers correct astigmatism, a common condition that causes blurred vision. CYL is the amount of astigmatism, and AXIS is its direction
ADD (Addition): This is the added magnifying power for reading, usually found in bifocals or progressive lenses
