Little feet. Big work. š
Todayās session focused on balance, body awareness, and confidence -all through play. Standing on a textured balance cushion challenges core strength, ankle stability, and postural control while giving rich sensory input through the feet.
What looks simple is actually powerful:
⨠Building stability
⨠Improving coordination
⨠Supporting regulation
⨠Encouraging equal weight bearing
In OT, we donāt just help children stand ā we help them feel grounded, strong, and capable.
Every wobble is progress. Every second counts. š«

Some friendships are spoken.
Some are shown.
And some⦠are inked forever. š¤āØ
Today out hearts are full.
Thank you, dear friend, š®š¹for choosing to carry Furaha on your skin. Thatās not just a tattoo, thatās belief. Thatās loyalty. Thatās standing with a vision that serves children, families, and our community every single day.
You didnāt just draw a name.
You marked purpose.
You stamped love.
You wore the mission.
In a world where support can be loud but shallow, you chose something permanent. And that speaks volumes.
May Furaha continue to live not just on your skin, but in the impact we create together. šæ
Grateful beyond words.
Hereās to friendship, faith, and doing life boldly. š

Executive functioning isnāt just a āschool skill.ā Itās a life skill. šæāØ
Attention.
Impulse control.
Planning.
Working memory.
Flexibility in thinking.
These are the silent engines behind handwriting, task completion, emotional regulation, and academic confidence.
When a child struggles with handwriting, itās often not about laziness. It could be:
⢠Difficulty organizing thoughts
⢠Trouble starting tasks
⢠Weak working memory
⢠Challenges with focus and emotional control
The good news? Executive skills can be taught, strengthened, and supported.
At Furaha, we believe every child can thrive with the right strategies and supportive environments. Inclusion is not a favour ā itās a responsibility.
Karibu to growth. šā šš½

Inclusion in our schools is not a favour. Itās a right.
A child who covers their ears in assembly is not undisciplined.
A learner who canāt sit still is not stubborn.
A pupil who needs pictures, movement, breaks or quiet is not slow.
They may be neurodivergent; sensory processing differences, learning disabilities, ADHD or autism and our job as schools, parents, churches, and communities is adaptation, not exclusion.
š What inclusion should look like in a Kenyan classroom:
⢠Flexible seating (yes, even standing desks
and floor work are learning!)
⢠Visual timetables and clear routines
⢠Shorter instructions, broken down steps
⢠Sensory breaks instead of punishment
⢠Teachers supported, not overwhelmed
⢠Parents included, not blamed
Integration is not just placing a child in a classroom.
Inclusion is changing the classroom to fit the child.
When we adapt schools, we donāt lower standards,
⨠we widen access.
Letās build schools where everychild belongs.
Because disability is not inability.
And inclusion benefits all learners.

All children need food, love, health, play and education every day, yet many Kenyan children with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and dyslexia are forgotten in our communities and families.
Furaha Day Centre has realized the need of these discriminated and hidden children whom no one wants to be associated with. These children are not finding happiness like other normal children. So we are here to speak up for them, offer them love and health support that they need.
The children are often neglected due to birth defects, resulting in poor health, malnutrition, and often are sexually abused too. Discrimination and stigma causes these children psychological and emotional harm. Few organisations in Meru County help such young people and are not able to cater to every needy child.
Furaha offers quality day nursing care, play, meals, sensory integration and occupational therapy. Furaha relies on donations to facilitate the Centre daily programmes. The centre is equipped with a special therapeutic room, physiotherapy section, counselling and psychotherapy room, classes, dining hall and other necessities.
We want to build a permanent centre on our own land with space for technical skills' training like vegetable gardens, carpentry workshop, tailoring/knitting, poultry keeping, bee-keeping etc. The centre is managed by a Director, Manager, and staff from the community.
We welcome volunteers and university students to oversee the day to day activities of the centre. We seek support from the International Foundations,People of good will groups,National government, County Government, local MPs, Women's Representatives, County Education Department, local business community and well-wishers for further help and assistance. We would also like to engage the Matatu Operators within Meru through their buses to assist us to freely transport the children to and from the Centre to their homes daily.
