“My milk is not enough.”
Many mothers whisper these words in fear, exhaustion, and doubt.
A fussy baby.
A worried mother.
A quick top-up.
And just like that, a cycle begins that slowly reduces a mother’s milk supply.

But here is the truth many mothers are not told:
Breastmilk works on demand and supply.

The more a baby breastfeeds, the more milk a mother’s body produces.

When mothers are supported, encouraged, and given the right information, their bodies are often capable of nourishing their babies.

At the Kenya Association for Breastfeeding, we believe no mother should feel alone, confused, or pressured when it comes to feeding her baby.

Breastfeeding is not just a personal choice.
It is a public health priority, a life-saving intervention, and a right every mother deserves support to achieve.

Let us protect mothers from doubt.
Let us protect babies from misinformation.
Let us protect breastfeeding.

Support a mother. Protect breastfeeding. Save lives.

You cannot talk about Maternal Health.
You cannot talk about Newborn Survival.
You cannot talk about Child Development…
WITHOUT talking about Breastfeeding.

Today, Kenya Association for Breastfeeding was present at the Maternal & Newborn Health Conference 2026 — championing policies, practices and protection for breastfeeding mothers.

Because every mother deserves support.
Every baby deserves the best start.
Breastfeeding saves lives. Let’s protect it.

Did you know Kenyan law supports breastfeeding mothers at work?

The Health Act (2017) encourages workplaces to provide a private breastfeeding space and time for milk expression during the workday.

Supporting breastfeeding mothers is not just good practice — it promotes healthier families and more supportive workplaces.

Don’t wait for a crisis. Prepare early. ✨

Most new moms call a lactation consultant when they’re already struggling — but that’s too late.

💡 Just one prenatal session in your third trimester can mean fewer problems in the first week of breastfeeding.

🗣 WHO says:
“Breastfeeding counselling should begin during pregnancy.” ✅

As.) .billchun says:
“I’ve seen breastfeeding succeed when women had an LC on their team.”

📲 Start early. We’re here to help.

🧠 BREAST SIZE DOESN’T DEFINE BREASTFEEDING SUCCESS!

During our hands-on breastfeeding education session, we use models of different breast sizes to train healthcare workers and mothers — because it’s not the size that matters, it’s the support, technique, and frequency that count!

Let’s bust some common myths:
❌ Myth: Bigger breasts produce more milk
✅ Fact: Milk production depends on demand and glandular tissue — not breast size!

❌ Myth: Small breasts can’t make enough milk
✅ Fact: Breastfeeding success is possible for all sizes — good latch and regular feeding are key.

👩🏾‍⚕️ At the Kenya Association for Breastfeeding, we’re on a mission to empower mothers with science-based knowledge, not stigma or misinformation.

Let’s support every mother, every drop, every baby.

✨ The Power of a Good Latch ✨

For new moms, one of the most important foundations of successful breastfeeding is a good latch. A deep, effective latch helps your baby get enough milk, protects your ni***es from pain, and supports your milk supply.

✅ Signs of a good latch:
1:Baby’s mouth is wide open,
2:lips flanged out (like fish lips)
3:Chin touches the breast,
4:nose is clear
5:More of the ar**la visible above baby’s lip than below
6:You hear swallowing, not clicking sounds
7:Feeding feels comfortable, not painful

📌 Did you know? Research shows that poor latch is the leading cause of sore ni***es and low milk transfer in the first weeks. With proper guidance, this can be corrected and breastfeeding can become easier and more enjoyable for both mom and baby.

💡 If you’re a new mom struggling with latch, remember you are not alone. Support makes the journey smoother.
