UNFPA Lauds KEMSA’s Digital Transformation as Kenya Launches Family Planning Supply Chain Review

KEMSA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Waqo Ejersa today hosted a high-level UNFPA delegation at the National Supply Chain Centre in Embakasi, marking the start of the Family Planning Commodities Last Mile Assurance (LMA) Assessment.

This nationwide assessment will evaluate Kenya’s reproductive health commodity delivery system from warehouse to health facility.

The review, running from October 23 to November 7, 2025, will cover KEMSA, Nakuru, and Bungoma Counties.

Dr. Waqo highlighted KEMSA’s use of the Integrated Logistics Management Information System (ILMIS) to enhance transparency, forecasting, and accountability in the delivery of family planning commodities nationwide.

UNFPA Representative to Kenya, Anders Thomsen, praised KEMSA’s reforms and technology-driven systems, noting that Kenya now leads the region in digital health logistics. “Every truck and consignment is tracked in real time ensuring safety, integrity, and trust,” he said.
