Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raajiun

It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing early this morning of Professor Mohamed Karama, esteemed Chairman of the National Muslim COVID‑19 Response Team. A distinguished Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology and former Acting Vice‑Chancellor of Umma University, Prof. Karama’s leadership greatly shaped our community’s pandemic response in Kenya.

During the height of the COVID-19 crisis, he guided the Muslim community with unwavering compassion—coordinating burial protocols across major counties, training PPE-equipped volunteer teams, and ensuring mental health support for grieving families . His courage, dedication, and faith-based leadership made an indelible impact.

As we mourn his loss, let us also honour the legacy he leaves behind. In accordance with his commitment to Islamic principles, we ask all those who knew him to offer prayers for Prof. Karama’s forgiveness and elevated status in Jannah.

Asalam Aleikum Brothers and Sisters…

We would like to bring to the attention of the Muslim Community Living in Nairobi that the Body of our deceased Sister Salama Naregae Lowoto of Turkana West has been lying at Lee Funeral Home since October 2022 🙆‍♀️🥹. (11 Months = 311days precisely)

Our Sister Salama hails from a very poor family and was diagnosed with cervix cancer and has undergone a prolonged treatment in which the well wishers of the Muslim community in Kakuma participated in her medical expenses and logistics. Most of these treatments were done in Kakuma hospitals.

On deterioration of her health condition, she was supported and transported to Nairobi for further medication from a better equipped hospital facility (Nairobi Hospital) to utilize her medical cover (UAP Insurance)

While in Nairobi Hospital undergoing Surgery she passed on with a pending hospital bill of 7,400,000.

An amount of 3,200,000/= has been raised but despite numerous attempt from the community and their leaders the hospital denied to wave the Bill for the deceased family upto date.

it's our obligation to bury a fellow Muslim, and the remaining amount is beyond our ability to raise.Lets come together and Raise awareness of this case and seek waiver of the Bill or find any kind of help to release her body.

She has right over all us to give her a decent burial.🥹🙏
