What to do if you lose your passport in Singapore?
Stay Calm and Check
. Check Lugguage, hotel safe, clinic and pockets for your passport. If still missing, proceed with the steps below:
1. Call the taxi driver who took you from the airport to your present destination. He will contact you and you can ask him to search his car for your passport. If found, he will send it to your location and you only need to pay the fare from his location to yours.
If that fails:
2. File a Police Report Immediately
• You can make the report at any police station or online through SPF e-Services (“Lost Property” report).
• A police report is important because your embassy will need it to issue a replacement or emergency passport.
3. Contact Your Embassy or Consulate
• Search online for your Embassy number
• They will guide you on:
• Replacement passport or emergency travel document
• Required documents (police report, ID copies, passport photos, etc.)
• Processing times and fees
If your country only has a consulate in Singapore, they may redirect you to the nearest full embassy (e.g., in Kuala Lumpur or Jakarta) — but they can still help you start the process.
4. Visit the Embassy
. Most embassies require an in-person visit
. Bring police report, IDs, photos, application fee
If You Need to Travel Soon: Request an Emergency Document
Most embassies in Singapore can issue a temporary or emergency passport within days or even same-day in urgent situations. They will usually respond quickly for health-related cases.
Before leaving Singapore
5. Inform immigration officer your passport was lost
. Show new passport/emergency document and police report
. Immigration updates your records to allow smooth departure
