Welcome to the Department of Psychiatry at the American University of Beirut and the American University of Beirut Medical Center. Our department is a leading academic and clinical resource in the fields of child, adolescent and adult mental health. Our vision is to provide integrated, evidence-based and patient-centered care. Our faculty, staff and trainees are recognized for pioneering research that is informative about our local context, for excellence in training the next generation of leaders in Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology and for advocacy efforts both nationally and regionally. On September 30, 2025, we hosted the session “Supporting Caregivers in Caring for Dementia: Tips and Recommendations” at AUBMC, ACC Board Room, led by Dr. Marc Barakat and Dr. Rita Khoury. 💙

The session provided caregivers with practical guidance on:
🧩 Communicating with patients living with dementia
💙 Offering compassionate care
🌿 Avoiding caregiver burnout
