Dr. Shememian is a Western Medical Doctor specializing in General and Internal Medicine and a member of the Lebanese Physician’s Order since 1994. After several years of practicing family medicine, he decided to pursue his dream of having the ability to provide integrative, comprehensive healthcare using both Western and Eastern medical approaches. Hence, he pursued his ambitions and graduated from one of oldest and most prestigious colleges of oriental medicine in the U.S., from the New England School of Acupuncture (N.E.S.A.) in 2002. Upon receiving his Masters degree of Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture from N.E.S.A., in the same year he passed the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) which certified Dr. Raffi as a U.S. Board Certified Oriental Medical Doctor (O.M.D.). Furthermore, he completed and earned his National Certification for "Clean Needle Technique". In the same year, Dr. Shememian returned to Lebanon, where he began his successful and challenging private practice, providing his expertise in both Eastern and Western medicine to patients from Lebanon, all over the Middle East, and Europe. Through continuing education courses and professional development activities, Dr. Shememian remains current in the latest advances in his field and remains an active and certified member of the U.S. NCCAOM.
Dr. Shememian is also a member of faculty of the Osteopathic College of Ontario, located in Markham, Ontario, Canada as he has earned his degree of Diplomate in Osteopathic Manipulative Theory and Practice from the same institution.
Dr. Shememian conducts a thorough western medical analysis, as well as eastern diagnosis to evaluate a patient's conditions and treatment plan. Dr. Raffi uses a multitude of treatment modalities, either individually or concurrently to treat many conditions and to enhance well-being. All the methods work holistically by encouraging the body to heal itself.
In addition to being specialized in traditional Chinese and Japanese acupuncture treatment approaches, his sub-specialties include the following styles of Oriental Medicine: Sugiyama, Toyohari, Five Element, Manaka, Ion-Pumping chord, Yamamoto Style Scalp Acupuncture, Auricular-Acupuncture (ear acupuncture, French and Chinese schools), Electro-needling, TuiNa, "Chinese Physiotherapy"; and Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT).
Dr. Shememian is fluent in English, Arabic, Russian, and Armenian.
