Eid Mubarak everyone!
عيد مبارك كل عام وانتم بخير!
May Allah accept our fasting, prayers, and good deeds.
After a month of fasting, it will take some time for your body to adjust to a normal diet. Therefore, you can have gastrointestinal distress such as bloating, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, and vomiting. This can be avoided by following 5 main things:
1. Eating dates first thing in the morning and drinking water. (Eat them before eid prayer as that’s sunnah of prophet Muhammad ﷺ)
2. Stick to small portions
It’s tempting to eat a lot on Eid especially with the wide variety of delicious food around. Try to keep your quantities small!
3. Focus on nourishing your body! Try having a variety of healthy food and don’t skip meals for sweets! Ensure you eat balanced meals including protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, fruits, and vegetables!
4. Easy on the sugar!
Baklava, knefe, maamoul, chocolate, etc… though they are an important part of the feast go easy on them! Putting that much sugar into your system after days of fasting will make you feel ill, nauseous, and tired. Try eating a meal before having sweets and have them in small amounts.
5. As well as enjoying healthy delicious dishes, remember to keep drinking sugar free fluids throughout the day to stay hydrated.
Finally, the main thing to remember on a celebration day like Eid al-Fitr is to have fun. 🥳
