When should you consult a speech therapist for a 2–3-year-old ? 💬
These early years are full of growth, but certain signs can tell us when extra support is needed. Between ages 2 and 3, if your child isn’t yet combining words into short phrases, uses fewer than 50 words, or if most of their speech is difficult to understand - even for parents, siblings, grandparents, or people in their wider circle - it may be time to seek a speech therapist’s guidance.
Early evaluation, along with parent-focused support and strategies, helps ensure your little one gets the support they need to express themselves with confidence. 🌱💛

Multilingualism doesn’t confuse children, it enriches their skills. From cognitive flexibility and cultural identity to stronger communication skills, learning more than one language comes with several lifelong benefits.
At home, consistency is key. Sing, read, and play in all your languages. Encourage daily use without worrying about perfection, fluency grows with practice and exposure.

Does speaking more than one language slow down your child’s speech? The answer is “no”! 🌍
Bilingual and multilingual children can learn several languages simultaneously. It is natural for them to mix words or take a bit more time to express themselves. These behaviors do not indicate a delay; they are simply part of the learning process.
In fact, with the right exposure, multiple languages can stimulate cognitive development and boost both social and communication skills. 💡
What matters most is speaking to your child often, for a sufficient period of time, fluently, and with genuine engagement. 💕

Between ages 1 and 2, your child is building the foundation for lifelong communication. But sometimes, certain signs may suggest they could use a little extra support. Limited vocabulary, unclear speech, few gestures, or difficulty combining words and following directions can all be early indicators that a professional consultation or evaluation might help.

Early intervention isn’t just helpful, it’s impactful. A speech therapist can guide your child’s communication development and help them reach better outcomes with confidence.

When should we consult a speech
therapist?” This is a question many
families ask. 💭
Between 1.5 and 2 years
of age, if your child is still mainly
communicating through cries or sounds
instead of using simple words or using
conventional gestures (like bye bye or
hi), if they’re not yet putting at least two
words together to form short sentences, or
if they are communicating in a way that
makes their speech difficult to understand,
then it may be time to consult a speech
therapist for guidance and early
support. 🌱

From 12 to 36 months, your little one transitions from gestures and simple sounds to words, phrases, and curious questions. They begin to name familiar people, combine words, follow directions, and soon start expressing thoughts, feelings, and ideas in their own voice.

These milestones grow through developing listening, social, and cognitive skills. Every sound, gesture, and word is part of how your child learns to connect with the world.

💡Take a moment to pause and observe how your child shares, reacts, and connects. These moments reveal the incredible progress happening beneath the surface.

“It’s on the tip of my tongue…” 👅
We’ve all been there. But for some, it can happen so often that it could disrupt daily communication skills. This difficulty is called anomia. It can appear in both children and adults and may require speech therapy. Through speech and language therapy, we implement strategies to facilitate word retrieval. In such situations, intervention can help turn everyday moments, like forgetting a word, into opportunities to strengthen real-life communication.
Has this ever happened to you?

Aphasia is most often caused by stroke or brain injury and can affect speaking, understanding, reading and writing.
As SLPs, we work to rebuild communication pathways and empower individuals to connect with the world again.
Every gesture, tool or supportive environment matters, because connection goes far beyond words.
🧠🗣️ Awareness is the first step.

In Lebanon, a word can sound completely different depending on the region 🇱🇧. What may seem ‘wrong’ is often just another dialect, and that’s perfectly valid. As speech therapists, it’s important to recognize these differences so we can evaluate people fairly and accurately. Zemou2a, edoumie, zaroub… same picture, different names! Which version do you use?
