The practical demonstration titled โIntroduction to Robotics and Gamified Rehabilitation in Strokeโ was conducted as part of the workshop โAdvancing Stroke Care through Multidisciplinary Excellence,โ organized by the Colombo Physiotherapy Alumni Association (ColPAA) in collaboration with the Department of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.
The session was held on 11th January 2026 at the Geriatric Assessment Laboratory, Centre for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. The session focused on the importance of robotics and gamified rehabilitation in stroke rehabilitation, emphasizing their role in enhancing patient engagement and functional recovery.
Participants were introduced to the TYMO system, including balance assessment procedures and balance-oriented therapeutic interventions. The session also featured the PABLO system, with demonstrations on gait assessment, grip strength assessment, range of motion assessment, and corresponding rehabilitation interventions.
The session was conducted by Mr. Kaveera Senanayake, Lecturer in Physiotherapy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, and Dr. Asha Wettasinghe, Director, Centre for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. The workshop provided valuable insights into the application of advanced rehabilitation technologies in modern stroke care.
Special acknowledgement is extended to the CAPAGE Project (EU Erasmus+ Project) for funding support for the TYMO and PABLO devices, which enabled this hands-on learning experience.
